As happy as Link was to hear that his older nametwin had not hurt his head too badly, he was even more thrilled to see that he had returned to his true form. He had fully believed Impa when she had said that the curses were not permanent, but he had not expected any of them to be freed of them so quickly! At his friend's apparent confusion upon dropping his mouth open, the boy-turned-rabbit exclaimed, "You are! See?"

There was a niggling feeling in the back of his mind that getting rid of the curses was not going to be quite so easy, but even if this was only a temporary solution, at the very least, he was positive that this unexpected discovery would help them sort everything out for good, whether it was to be soon or not. He certainly hoped it would be soon, but right now… he was too glad to really think that far ahead. From his perch atop Impa's head, his smile only grew as he watched the older Link inspect his body to see that everything really was back to normal, and he could not help but feel reminded of the first time he had changed back to his true self back in Termina. And to a lesser degree, he was reminded of the first time he went back in time in Hyrule by dropping the Master Sword… granted, that was different since his body was still his own Hylian one in both times, but it had been interesting to suddenly turn back into a kid after having apparently grown up.

"Well that was easier than I thought it was going to be…" Tatl mused, cocking a wing as she too started at the hot spring, trying to figure out just how in the heck it had changed Link back to himself. Whilst her Link laughed slightly at the Hero of Winds' frown and final check of his body, the Terminian fairy fluttered a bit closer to Ciela, noting, "I can't detect anything new or different about the spring that could have caused this. As far as I can tell, it's the same as it's always been." And that was exactly what made this so strange… was the cure really THAT simple? Was it this hot spring in particular, or was it something else about the water… like maybe… "Hmm…"

Tatl pondered the matter for several seconds, not failing to catch Link's own investigation of the spring. Hopefully, between his own check there, her evidence that she had just observed, and Impa's keen perception, they would be able to deduce something. It might take a few tries testing things out to see just what had happened here, but at the very least, Link's quick thinking to save Leaf had helped them stumble across their best lead yet.

Link's ears perked up as his older nametwin checked the spring some more before swimming back closer to Sheik, his own mind starting to try and sort out just what could have happened here. The older boy had just confirmed that the spring was in fact the same… and even though the Hero of Time himself was not as magically inclined as Zelda or Impa, the spring did not seem to be magical itself, like what one might find in a fairy fountain or even some of the springs across Hyrule and Termina. If it was the same though… then what had changed his best friend back?

His blue eyes widening slightly as he started to hold his breath in anticipation, Link watched as Link took Sheik's hands, carefully dipping them in the hot spring to see if the same change might happen for him… the same return to herself. If this could work for Link… then perhaps it could work for all of them.

Glad to confirm that his friend was in fact all right from where he had hit his head and fallen in the hot spring, at catching Link's reactions to seeing that he really had turned back into a Hylian, Sheik's smile soon shifted into a full on grin of both relief and disbelief. He wasn't sure if this was a permanent cure or not, but right now, he was just happy to see that Link was himself again.

Watching as Link checked that everything was in order and back to normal, Sheik laughed as he had his hands out toward him, right before saying, "Yeah… you're a Hylian again!" How this had happened was still a mystery, but the important thing was that it had… Link had still been himself even as a piglet, but now he was back in his true form. And if he had turned back to his original form already… then there was a very high chance that he had just found a possible cure for all of their curses.

Sheik could not help but chuckle slightly at Link's reaction and response to Ciela's question, but as amusing as that was, he was just glad that his friend was in fact fully back to himself and did not exhibit any traits of the form he had just been in. As both the Spirit of Courage and Tatl scrutinized the hot spring, the princess-turned-prince also stole a glance at it, studying it especially carefully once Link dove back underneath as though to investigate it further. He narrowed his red gaze, trying to see if he could detect something, anything about the hot spring that was different, or at least what about it that had changed his friend back… but the same as the Terminian fairy, all he could see was the same, welcoming hot spring that had always sat in this small clearing of the forest.

A couple of moments later, Link burst forth from the water with his trademark 'bwa,' still himself and soon shaking his head to confirm that nothing was different at all. It was something of a comfort to know that the hot spring itself had remained unchanged, but at the same time, it was perplexing to see that even with that, Link had still changed back. Sheik had a feeling that it had to be something incredibly simple, such as the temperature or type of water, but right now… it was just a matter of sorting it out.

Sheik watched Link as he walked towards him, right before blinking as his friend took his hands. Taking a slow, deep breath, his red eyes widened slightly as he soon found his right hand placed into the water, and a couple of seconds later, his left hand right beside it. The disguised princess-turned-prince looked from his hands, back to his friend's face at his questioning articulation, and then returned his focus to his hands in the spring.

He felt… something… it was only a sense, but it was something. He wasn't changing back to his true self, but he could tell that there was something about the water that was definitely the key to turning back into a girl. Furrowing his brow as he watched his hands, waiting for any sign of a change to start to take place across his body, Sheik's mind began to race to try and fill in the missing pieces of this puzzle.

Even though his hands were in the same hot spring that had turned his friend back, he himself was not returning to his true form… was the spring only able to grant one of them to return to their true forms? No, that didn't seem to be it… maybe his hands had not been immersed long enough? As the seconds ticked on, that did not seem to be the case, as by this point, Link had already changed back into himself. The temperature was still the same… but what was different was… the coverage.

Link had been entirely submerged in the hot spring… Sheik had only stuck his hands in. Maybe in order to change back, more of him had to be splashed with the water… it was worth a shot, at least.

Sheik studied the water of the hot spring for a few more moments, right before he moved his hands together out of Link's gentle grip, soon cupping them and trying his best to catch a decent amount of water between them. He soon lifted his hands from the hot spring, looking to the water held in them, and in one smooth motion, quickly splashed the water onto his face, most of it landing right there before hitting other parts of his frame.

A split second later, all Sheik could do was gasp, red eyes wide with surprise as he felt a sudden change take place… rather, she felt a sudden change take place. It was almost as though the hot water had washed away her male form to leave her as a girl again, and as she felt the return to the form she was more familiar with, she could not help but grin and laugh slightly in disbelief. The slight change in her voice had been reversed, her chest has returned to being properly wrapped by the bandages, and the other primary change had disappeared. Sheik was a girl again.

"Ha! Link… it worked!" Sheik exclaimed, still grinning broadly to her best friend, right before whipping around to Link and Impa. Hoping that they would be able to use the spring as well here, she added, "I've changed back too! Completely!" Laughing again as she looked back to the Hero of Winds, the disguised princess dropped into a sitting position at the edge of the spring, still hardly able to believe that she was already back to herself, but even more relieved that they had found a clue to taking care of this.

Although she could already see that he was fine from his fall regardless of his transformation back to himself, Impa was still glad to catch Link's apologetic grin and sound of confirmation that he was in fact okay. At least as far as the Sheikah-turned-bear could detect, he might have still been afflicted with the curse that had currently been reversed, but they had at the very least stumbled upon a very valuable clue to that was sure to help all of them.

Impa kept her head especially steady given the younger Link's position on it, but even so, she could not help but smile a bit in triumph, or at least as best as her muzzle would allow her, as she watched the older boy check to see that everything about his body had undoubtedly returned to the way it was supposed to be. As apparent as his relief and happiness were at having changed back, his confusion at having already turned back as well as how he had turned back was also visible. It was quite the mystery, but as unexpected as it was, it was still rather welcome.

As Link dove back under the water, Impa's focus on the hot spring intensified as she tried to use her Eyes of Truth to see if she could determine just was at play here. She had already confirmed that it like the rest of the forest had remained unchanged, so that only left one conclusion… something about this water was able to reverse the effects of the curses. Temporary as it might have appeared to be to her, it was still something, and as Link broke the surface once more, Impa's red gaze fell on him again.

Regardless of the curses, the primary difference between this spring and the others appeared to be the temperature of the water… after all, this was a hot spring and the others were regular ones. That alone seemed to be one very possible reason for the change… but even though her instincts were starting to point her in that direction, Impa was not about to jump to any conclusions. After all, it was entirely possible that the way to reverse these curses was simply to bathe in uncursed water… whatever the answer was though, the Sheikah-turned-bear was positive that they would figure it out soon.

Impa's ears perked up slightly once the older Link moved to carefully catch Sheik's hands, right before dipping them into the hot spring as well. For several long, tense seconds, nothing seemed to be happening to the disguised princess-turned-prince, and as his guardian focus his red gaze on him, she too was able to see that he was in fact still cursed. Impa regarded her charge, inwardly wondering just what might have to be done here in order for him to achieve the same change that Link had, but before she could suggest anything, it appeared that Sheik had got the same idea she had.

Perhaps another factor that went into Link's own cure was not just the water from the hot spring but the sheer amount that had covered him… and a moment later, Impa watched as Sheik moved to cup the water in his hands, soon splashing himself in the face with it.

That seemed to have done just the trick, as Impa could instantly tell that Sheik had indeed changed back into a girl. That alone filled the Sheikah-turned-bear with an even greater sense of relief than she had already felt from Link's transformation, and her charge's happy exclamations simply added to that. Whether they all still bore the curses or not, at the very least, this was definitely a very nice and very welcome discovery.

Letting out a rather pleased growl, Impa began to walk towards the edge of the spring, continuing to use all fours for the time being even as the Hero of Time was still balanced on her head. She nodded strongly to Link, glancing to Sheik before turning back to the Hero of Winds with another soft growl. He might have stumbled across this hot spring by accident, but she was still very proud of him for his quick thinking around it.

Ciela was concerned. It worried her more that the very sensitive Tatl cannot pick up anything wrong with the water. The feeling of all this not knowing was driving the fairy nuts. Usually she was a very sensible fairy - she knew she was - but with all that had occurred so far and the distinct lack of Neri here to help balance out the emotions was starting to stress the yellow winged glowball out. She knew she didn't have to take on Neri's role. She knew she just had to be herself and it was with this logical processing that she managed as far to keep being herself in their walk through the forest but the feeling still niggled at the back of her mind telling her to do more, telling her to worry and to fret.

The other Spirit present on the other hand was spinning around the hot spring's surface with reckless abandon. He had felt a bit bad for causing the Hero of Winds to fall in the first place but that feeling was quickly pushed out of the way when his accident turned up to be a great thing. See! Without the great Leaf, you wouldn't have found out how to transform back so quickly! So the good balanced out the bad part and as long as he wasn't going to die from Ciela's hammer nor have Neri tear his wings off, he was fine as can be with nary a care in the world right now because all was fiiiiiiiine~ Now they just need to figure out how Link changed back...

As Link emerged out of his dive underwater, Ciela and Leaf flew a little closer to join him as he made his way across the spring to where Zelda was. The Spirit of Courage and innkeeper both held their breaths together as they waited for the prince to react positively to his hand being in the water. Leaf himself watched on, his glow almost shuddering with excitement. He was expecting a boom! A poof! A bang! Sparkles! When the wait proved fruitless, they exhaled and deflated in a disappointed sigh. An apology was right at the edge of being voiced by Ciela when Zelda pulled his hands from Link's.

Confused, Link and Ciela shared a glance before doing the same with Impa, Tatl, Leaf and the other Link. What was Zelda thinking of? He's... cupping the water?

HE'S NOT GOING TO DRINK IT WAS HE?!

Link's mouth dropped open and his own hand moved out of the water as if to stop the other boy then he hesitated. His own fall into the water had been unplanned (if it was, he would had chosen a much cooler way of entry than via a bounce on piglet head) and so sudden that he did not have the time to brace himself before he was submerged in the warm water so he had in fact swallowed a bit of the water before he could close his mouth and pushed upwards back to the surface. Maybe drinking the water is the cu--

    Er...Zelda, that's a splash and not a drin-- OH!

His own eyes widened not because he could see any changes to his friend but by her reaction. Hope bubbled to the surface and he beamed happily at Zelda, growing even more excited as she exclaimed and confirmed that the change was successful. But what? How? She just splashed herself!

Wait, no! That was correct! Water! Splash! So he transformed back because of the water! Not just by soaking his hands but more of his body. The face? Just like Zelda did? Do they only need to splash the face? That was weird even by his standards.  It cannot be that easy. There must be something more to it but for now, he was just happy to be back as a Hylian.

Link grabbed the princess' shoulders, laughed and then he wrapped his arms around her in a hug before he fell backwards into the water, taking her with him. Ciela could barely avoid that splash of water and Leaf was soon shaking droplets off his wings.

Having released Zelda underwater, Link surfaced, grinned widely at Link and Impa who had joined them at the poolside. He held out his hands again. Look! He was a boy! He was turned back by water of all things. They must take it home with them! How many bottles do they have with them right now? That can wait!

With a heave of his arms, he pushed a huge wave of hot spring water in the direction of the black and white bear and rabbit.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Link64 on Mon Sep 16, 2013 6:51 am

Whilst the feeling when Link had changed was practically the same, this curse was still different from his transformation masks in the way that he had not simply inhabited the body of a rabbit. He had instead become when he himself would have been had he originally been born a rabbit… a pink, talking rabbit, but a rabbit nonetheless. On the first part of their walk back from the cursed springs, the Hero of Time had wondered which sort of transformation this was… but given the way some of his features remained in this form, his older nametwin's expressive eyes, Sheik's strong resemblance to his true self, and especially Impa's eye markings, it was apparent that each of them had simply turned into their own version of each of these forms. It was interesting to say the least, and in a bittersweet way, slightly more comforting than the origin of the transformation masks he held.

One more thing was very similar to those masks, though… especially the Deku Mask… and that was the immense sense of relief that the Hero of Time felt at seeing his best friend return to himself from where he had landed in the spring. That feeling was soon replaced by apprehension though as the Hero of Winds took Sheik's hands and dipped them into the hot spring, and with each second that ticked on without signs of change or reactions from the disguised princess-turned-prince, the apprehension steadily became worry.

Sheik wasn't changing back… and if he wasn't… then… NO! He couldn't think about that! Especialyl not when Impa had insisted that these curses weren't permanent and when the older Link was right there already back to himself!  Something had to be working here! But since nothing was happening for Sheik… why had Link changed back then? Was it the way he fell into the spring? Was it where he had got splashed? Was it…

Link remembered to breath just in time to take a quick breath as Sheik moved to cup the water from the spring, soon bringing it to his face and splashing himself. Tatl chimed in surprise at seeing that, but even though neither she nor her companion could see any apparent changes for him, they were able to read HER reaction loud and clear. With that splash… Sheik had changed back to herself.

"AH!!" Link exclaimed, ears instantly perking up and blue eyes bright as he saw that the disguised princess had exclaimed that she had in fact returned to her true form. He wanted to congratulate her, to tell her how glad he was that both she and Link had changed back and that the cure had been found! But no matter how much he wanted to say, he was simply too thrilled to say anything just yet. Temporary or permanent, they had found a way to change back! "Ha-ha! Welcome back, Sheik!"

Link made sure to stay steady as Impa moved closer to the edge of the spring, and the boy-turned-rabbit chuckled as Link hugged Sheik before promptly falling backwards into the spring with her. Once his two friends resurfaced, the younger boy's grin effectively mirrored that of the Hero of Winds, although it did shift into a surprised gasp as he saw the sudden wave of hot water coming right towards Impa and himself. "AHH!"

As the water hit Link and Impa (and Tatl chimed in alarm from the unexpected action), the boy soon found that he was in fact once again a boy… almost as though his rabbit form had literally been washed away! And underneath him, Impa was a Sheikah again! The only difference now was that whilst his hands and upper body were still better situated on top of her head from his original position, his longer legs were now all but perfectly situated on their guardian's shoulders. He laughed a little sheepishly as he glanced down to her, catching her gaze from where they were both sitting there fully transformed back, but when he felt that she was not set to move him just yet, he simply looked to his own hands before beaming to his friends, excitedly saying, "Thanks Link! We're all back now!"

A few moments later, with a hand from Impa as she had lowered her position somewhat, the younger boy had climbed down from her shoulders and was now kneeling at the edge of the spring by his two friends that were standing in it, still barely able to believe that the hot spring had helped them reverse this already. No matter how it had happened, he was just glad it had!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Mon Sep 16, 2013 6:35 pm

Sheik's own laugh returned the instant that Link grabbed her shoulders, and she soon found herself caught in a hug from her friend. She barely had time to move to hug him back right before he started to fall backwards from where he stood in the spring, her red eyes widening as she saw that he was taking her fully into the water with him. It took only a split second, but the disguised princess still had just enough time to catch her breath, and as she and Link splashed into the middle of the spring, she closed her eyes before tightening her embrace around him.

Link and Sheik held the hug for a few moments underwater before they simultaneously let go of each other, both of them soon resurfacing, their broad grins still very present. Not caring in the slightest that she was now soaked instead of partially wet, the disguised princess was just about to offer for Link and Impa to join them, or to splash themselves at the very least. However, it seemed that the older boy had an even quicker idea. With a strong push from her friend, a large wave of hot water was soon sent towards her guardian and the Hero of Time... instantly transforming both of them back to their true forms as well.

Instead of a rabbit atop a black and white bear's head, Sheik now saw Link situated right on Impa's shoulders, her guardian balanced in a ready-to-sprint starting position instead of the quadruped one she had previously assumed. Her broad grin only grew at seeing that all four of them had changed back now, and she could not help but laugh happily at seeing this.

Her red eyes meeting those of her guardian, Sheik very shortly got the feeling that there was quite a bit more going on here than simply the fact that each of them had returned to their true selves. In the back of her mind, part of her knew that it was entirely possible that this cure was only temporary and that the curses were still a part of them. Even so, that they had even found this much of a solution so soon was definitely a relief… and relief and happiness were indeed two more things that the disguised princess and her guardian shared with their locked gaze.

Laughing a little more at Link's exclamation from where he still sat atop Impa's shoulders, Sheik noted, "And you two as well! Whether this is permanent or not, it's just great to see everyone back to their true forms."

Watching as Impa helped the younger Link hop down before looking to her guardian again, Sheik focused within herself to see if she could still feel the hold of the curse, right before she glanced up to Impa. The relief she was feeling was still rather evident across her soft smile, but even so, she soon asked, "Impa… we might have each changed back, but… are we still cursed? We know that the springs caused that and that the hot spring reversed it, but… is this only temporary?"

The disguised princess did not exactly want to think about how or why they might change back, but considering the sudden nature of their return transformation in the first place, she knew that for each of their sakes, it was best to ask this now. As she looked inward, she could almost feel that her male form was still there, somewhere even though she herself was not a boy at the moment… but regardless of her own keen perception, as they were still adjusting to this strange turn in the afternoon, she wanted to make certain for all four of them.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Impa on Tue Sep 17, 2013 1:33 am

As Impa started to walk towards the spring, her slight bear grin only grew at seeing the sudden hug shared between Link and Sheik, especially once the older boy fell backwards into the spring, taking the disguised princess right in with him. That reaction was the best way to sum up the happiness and relief that each of them were feeling, and as the Sheikah-turned-bear arrived at the edge of the spring, she was even more glad to see her two charges resurface, themselves and outright beaming.

Nodding firmly to the older Link as he showed his hands to her, Impa's red eyes soon widened as barely a second later, the Hero of Winds had pushed a large wave of hot water right for Link and herself. Even with her own quick reflexes and sharp senses, the former of which fully remained in her current form and the latter of which was slightly enhanced in some respects, she was not able to react to the point of changing her position. No, the best she could do was brace and steady herself as the wave hit her, especially since she still had one of her charges atop her head.

As the large but refreshing splash of water from the hot spring hit her, Impa could feel her bear form effectively being washed away in an instant, her transformation back to herself seemingly even more sudden than her original change into the black and white bear had been. Even from her current position with her hands forward on the ground, her back still stretched out as she had just been on what were previously four paws, she could tell that her ears were pointed once more, her facial features were distinctly Sheikah, and she was wearing all of her trademark armor again… just like her three charges, she was fully back to herself.

And speaking of charges… Impa was admittedly glad that despite the sudden splash of water and their ensuing transformations back that Link had been able to stay steady on her head… rather now her head and shoulders. The Hero of Time's place on her head had been one of the reasons she had not jumped to stand at the Hero of Winds' splash, and it seemed that despite his immediate jump in size, he still had a good perch. Regardless of her own somewhat crouched position on the ground, the Sheikah could not help but think that this was in fact rather humorous.

Glancing up to her charge with am amused smirk, Impa nodded slightly to him at his laugh to signify that their situation here was just fine, although after a few moments, she bent her arms and lowered the angle of her upper body, enabling Link to easily slide off of her before she herself moved to stand back upright to her full height. Laughing softly as she regarded Link, Sheik, and Link, Impa was very grateful for the sense of relief that the water from the hot spring had brought each of them, and even if this cure was in fact temporary, the relief was no less welcome or special.

"It is good to be back," stated Impa, feeling rather pleased to be able to talk once more. As she pulled out Link's digiglass and held it for the boy to take if he felt that he needed to write something himself, she added, "I am glad you're fine from your tumble, Link, and also that we inadvertently found a way to reverse the curses."

At Sheik's question, Impa's expression shifted into a slightly more focused one. The Sheikah regarded the hot spring itself ro a few moments before glancing back to her charges, noting, "I'm afraid so. Even though we have returned to our true forms, I can still sense the curses within us. They are sitting there in a benign state, set to be activated again… the main questions now are what might activate them again, and just what about the water in this hot spring was able to change us back."

It could very well have just been that normal water not from the cursed springs was the temporary cure… and by the same token, it was not entirely unlikely that the curses might simply take hold again after a certain amount of time had passed. No matter what though, Impa was certain that they would figure it out, and she herself was especially determined to.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Wind Waker Link on Sat Sep 21, 2013 4:10 pm

Sheik's tranformation from boy back to girl was a lot less detectable and Link's own one happened in the spring so this time, in his splashing Link and Impa, they really got to see the transformation before their eyes.... except it was less morphing and turning and more blink they were bear and rabbit and then blink again, they were Sheikah and Hylian.

Link stared at the two of them, again puzzled by how this curse of theirs work then, still running from the delight of himself and his friends all returning to their normal selves again, Link burst into laughter and splashed them with even more water once the younger Link had returned to the ground again. He leant forward, placed one hand on the edge of the bank, jumped just enough to grab the Hero of Time's hand without leaving the pool then he yanked hard so that the boy was dragged into the water with a giant splash.

He would do the same for Impa but somehow he felt that the chances were that the action would flip around on him. HE would be the one pulled, probably out of the pool. HE would then probably be lifted off the ground then dropped ceremoniously back into the water before he could even get his bearings right.

Instead, he accepted accepted the digiglass back before he grinned sheepishly, reached up and touched where he had bounced his head off the ground. It's a tiny bit tender bit he hardly noticed it unless you touched it and even then it was faint. He was so used to rolling into things that this was nothing.

Link turned as Sheik started to speak, her words instantly lowering the silly giddiness significantly as they realised once again the serious reality as they were still in. They knew it was far too easy a curse removal but temporary or not, to know they're not going to be permanent stuck as piglet, rabbit, boy and bear had been an ecstatic moment.

As Impa confirmed it, Link too looked down at the waters rippling out around him with each movement he made. Frustration was once again starting to build up and he sorely wished he knew more about curses and breaking them. How could they find out what was it about this spring that changed them back? Was it just water in general or was it this spring in particular? Whichever it was, they should perhaps bottle some of it to take back with them....

    Bottle!

Link instantly started writing on his digiglass, glad to be able to again and that it was sturdy and waterproof to begin with. "Does anybody have any bottles of normal water still with them? We could test it out."

They had been training so it wasn't uncommon of them to bring along bottles of water to drink after they had finished beating each other up. Link started shuffling through his items, placing each bottle out onto the bank as he came across them. His own bottle of water had long since been empty. There was another of milk and another empty one and the fourth bottle was filled with "Cookies? Really?"

In desperate need to defend himself, Link moved his hands to pantomine a short haircut that curled inwards towards the cheeks then crossed his arms and looked very, very stern.

Link's laughter soon echoed that of his older nametwin as he moved to splash him and Impa even more with the water from the hot spring, and only a few moments later, he found himself caught by Link just before being pulled into the spring as well. Surfacing with a 'bwa' to a resigned series of chimes form Tatl, Link's own laughter returned, and he quickly caught both Link and Sheik in a hug of his own. The Hero of Time held them close for several moments before letting go of them, still grinning to his friends as the ecstatic feeling of them confirming that their curses weren't permanent still settled over them.

"That all happened sooner than I expected it to," stated Tatl, soon glancing to Ciela and Leaf, still inwardly wondering just what about this hot spring had enabled the four of them to change back. No matter how long she studied it, she could not see anything different about it! "At least it happened, though."

As thrilled as Link was to have returned to himself, a large part of him was glad that Sheik had already asked Impa about whether their return to themselves was temporary or not. Given his own experience with transformations, or more specifically, inhabiting the bodies of others, something within him told him that they weren't quite free of these curses yet… in fact, if he focused, he could still feel his rabbit form deep inside of him, sitting there, still set to appear. It was a little disheartening, but certainly not discouraging. Link's tumble into the spring had helped them find a clue to changing back for good, or at the very least to staying as themselves more throughout the duration of these curses.

Impa soon confirmed that they were not in fact cured yet, and even though he wished they were, that news did not dampen the happiness he felt at still having been able to return to being a Hylian, or at seeing Link, Sheik, and Impa back as themselves again. As he pondered the two questions that she presented to them, the Hero of Time soon perked up as his older nametwin immediately began scribbling a message on his digiglass, and no sooner had he read the message than did his ears perk up slightly too. Bottles of water… whether this helped them figure anything out or not, that was definitely a great idea!

"I'm pretty sure I do," said Link, nodding to Link as his friend began to pull out his own bottles and set them on the edge of the spring. Checking in his own Hyrulean storage space, Link confirmed that in addition to two bottles full of Lon Lon milk and another of blue potion, that he did in fact have a bottle full of water. "Ha!" His blue eyes lit up as he pulled it out, showing it to his friends as he added, "It's just normal water from the sink, so it should be perfect for a test."

"Who's going to test it out, though?" Tatl asked, looking at each of them. There was a chance that the bottle of water wouldn't do anything, but with the chance that it might somehow activate one of the curses again, she couldn't imagine that any of them really wanted to turn back into their alternate forms.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Sun Sep 22, 2013 5:28 pm

Outright grinning at the hug that Link caught Link and herself in, Sheik returned it as best she could, her own laugh returning before the three of them pulled back from the embrace. The two hugs that she had just shared with her two best friends were really the only way to describe and show just how happy she was that they had returned to themselves. Words barely came close, and although she was still not certain how long they might be able to remain this way, that did not dampen her happy mood in the slightest.

Nodding in agreement with Impa's words regarding Link's fall into the hot spring, Sheik moved to place a hand on her friend's shoulder, giving him a confident smile as he took his digiglass back. No matter how odd it was for them to have found a way to reverse their curses already, nothing could take away from the happiness or relief they felt at discovering this.

Not even the question that she felt she had to ask next.

Part of her didn't want to ask about just how permanent this cure was or not, but at the same time, she knew it was best to ask now instead of risking the chance of any hope - false or otherwise - building up only to have it broken later. Even though she was beyond relieved to be back to herself, something told her that they weren't quite free of these curses yet. The reversal had been very easy, yet regardless of that, focusing inward, she could still feel her own curse's connection to her.

Soon enough, Impa confirmed that whilst they had returned to their true forms, they were not in fact uncursed. This cure was temporary... but temporary or not, it was still a cure, and still something to hold onto in their quest to return to themselves. As her guardian's words sank in even more, Sheik's slight smile faded, her own mind racing to try and figure out possible answers to the questions Impa had posed. She herself wasn't sure if it was a type of water or simply a trait of it that might activate or reverse the curses, but perhaps they could run a test with the hot spring and normal water to see if they could figure it out.

Almost as though they had read each other's minds, the older Link immediately wrote out a message on his digiglass, and once Sheik caught it, her red eyes widened slightly before she looked to her friend with a smile. "That's a great idea, Link. I was thinking much the same thing." And sure enough, the younger Link soon produced a bottle of water from his own inventory. Nodding in agreement with him, the disguised princess added, "It should do… thanks, Link. I'm glad you still had some."

At Tatl's question though, Sheik paused. Honestly, despite the strange nature of their curses, she knew that any of them were set to test it out for all of their sakes… Impa in particular given the very nature of her guardian. However, the disguised princess thought for just a couple of moments before moving to take the bottle from Link's hands, stating, "I will."

Before either of her friends could protest and at catching an understanding look from Impa, she quickly added, "Even if it does cause the curse to return, at least I'll still be a Hylian." Her determination to be the one to test it out shone through, and she soon gave both Link and Link a reassuring smile. "I'll be okay… and besides, if I test it out and do change, then Impa should be able to see just what triggers these curses now."

Meeting Impa's gaze with a meaningful one of her own, Sheik shared a nod with her, agreeing with her guardian's own sentiment and silently promising her that she would be careful. With another smile to Link and Link, the disguised princess climbed out of the hot spring, sighing slightly as she looked down to the bottle in her hands. It was just normal water, but to know that it had the potential to activate the curse she had gained… this was possibly even more surreal than having found out about their four curses in the first place.

"All right… here goes," said Sheik, uncorking the bottle and taking a deep breath before she raised it up over her head. As she held that breath, the disguised princess then emptied the bottle's contents on her head, her frame shuddering slightly from the sudden cooler sensation of the water… right before his red eyes widened as he realized that the test was in fact successful.

With the bottle of normal water splashed on him, Sheik had changed back into a boy.

With one stunned look to the more focused Impa, Sheik soon looked to his two friends that were still in the hot spring, lowering the bottle as he let out the breath he'd been holding, Smiling a little sympathetically to the two of them as well as the three fairies, he stated, "It looks like normal water has an effect too… I'm a boy again."

Oh Nayru… he sincerely hoped that it was just a trait that could be given to any amount of water that could help them reverse their curses. If normal water was all it took to activate them, then this was going to be a very interesting summer…

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Impa on Sun Sep 22, 2013 6:44 pm

Impa could not help but laugh as Link suddenly moved to splash the Hero of Time and herself even more, right before suddenly pulling the younger boy into the hot spring as well. As the three friends continued their short celebration inside of the water, the Sheikah allowed herself a sigh of relief… within her, she knew that this was temporary… but even with that knowledge brought by her keen insight, she was no less happy that they had still found a way to return to themselves.

Stemming from that, she was also very glad to see that Link was set to show that he was already feeling better from where he had hit his head on the way into the spring. Impa knew that the boy was very resilient, but it was always nice to see that even a minor injury stayed just that.

Whilst her three charges were still rather thrilled to have been freed from their own curses for the moment, Impa did feel a little guilty for having to confirm that this was not in fact permanent for them. Still, they were all very strong and mature, and she knew that they could certainly handle the news, even though each of them was equally ready to do whatever they could to sort this out as soon as possible.

As she pondered over the two questions posed to her charges, Impa continued to study the hot spring, her red gaze trying to pick up any clues in its apparent normalcy. A moment later though, she glanced back to the older Link as he quickly scribed a new message, one that was right in line with one of her yet to be voiced thoughts. Raising a curious eyebrow, Impa nodded to the Hero of Winds, noting, "It is a fine idea indeed… good thinking, Link."

Before Impa could even verify just what she had in her own quartet of bottles, the younger Link presented one of his own bottles, one that was full of pristine water. Meeting the boy with a smile and a grateful nod, the Sheikah stated, "Excellent, Link. Thank you."

At the question presented by Tatl, Impa glanced to the Terminian fairy before looking back to the hot spring, her red gaze narrowing slightly as she pondered the matter. She herself was more than ready to test out the effects of normal water on their forms now… after all, that was just part of what guardians did for their charges. By the same token however, she knew very well that it would be a lot easier to use her Eyes of Truth to watch one of the three of them test the water out, thus enabling her to better discern just what trait of the water reversed or activated the cures. She already had a very good feeling as to what the most likely aspect was, but until she could confirm it, she did not want to mention it. After all, if she was wrong, then that would only add one more degree of frustration to the strange turn of events the day had seen.

Impa was just about to voice her own intention to be the test subject for the bottle of water, but before she could do more than open her mouth slightly, she looked to the disguised princess at her own announced intention, her eyes widening slightly at the sheer determination she caught in her voice. Even without saying a word though, the Sheikah was able to tell just what Sheik's full reasoning was here… she too knew that if her guardian was able to watch the potential transformation take place instead of experiencing her own firsthand, then she could better pinpoint the trait of water that meant a cure or a curse. Furthermore, on the slim chance that it might take her longer to change back to herself, remaining a Hylian would be particularly helpful.

She knew the wisdom that her charge held, and Impa full trusted it… so with an understanding nod to Sheik, she waited for the disguised princess to explain her own reasoning to Link and Link before adding, "Sheik is right. I am more than set to test it myself, as I know both of you are… but if I can watch the transformation take place, if there is one, I can help determine just what helped us change back here. … You're very brave, Sheik, and we all appreciate your willingness to help."

Impa locked eyes with her charge once more before Sheik climbed out of the water, and as the disguised princess got her footing set, she glanced back to Link, Link, Ciela, Leaf, and Tatl. Giving the five of them a reassuring nod, the Sage of Shadow turned back to Sheik, watching as she moved to lift the bottle over her head, soon pouring it over herself. The instant that the water made contact with the disguised princess, Impa's focused gaze intensified, as not only had she seen that Sheik had turned back into a boy, but also just what had caused the change to happen… or rather, what simple aspect of perfectly normal water triggered it.

Looking over her transformed charge for another few moments as he turned to let their friends know that he had in fact changed again, Impa let that realization settle before she folded her arms, stating, "It does indeed have an effect… or rather, it is not simply water that changes us back or returns us to a cursed form. It has to do with the temperature of the water."

Impa let that thought hang for a moment before she looked to her three charges, nodding once before continuing, noting, "The springs that cursed us started all of this, and that alone proves that these curses are water-activated. Based on what has just happened here… it seems that for as long as we are cursed, our new forms are activated whenever we are splashed with cool water. Hot water reverses them and changes us back into our true selves. Neither one seems to have a permanent effect with its splash, so I am still not certain as to what our true cure to this is… but until we can determine that, it appears that we will have to be very careful around water."

Placing a hand on Sheik's shoulder and giving him a grateful nod for offering to test out the bottle of normal water, Impa smiled sympathetically to the three boys. None of the three of them could have predicted this… but even with as strange as it was, even though they did not know how long they were going to be stuck with these curses… as ever… "Once more, the important thing is that we are all okay. And so long as we are together, I know that we will be."

Post by Wind Waker Link on Tue Sep 24, 2013 7:05 pm

Link stumbled as he was suddenly caught in a hug but recovered quickly to chuckle and hug him one armed-ly back whilst his other held his digiglass.

"Same here," echoed Ciela on Tatl's sentiments. "If Link didn't roll off, we would had just walked right past it. I suppose we probably won't even find out they could change back from water until it either rains or they jump into the shower."

To think they would be a day where something of Leaf's fault actually turned into a good thing. Ciela suspect that if he not been even more in the wrong earlier and earned a right shouting at, the Spirit of Power would be twice the puffy glow he was now and would be gloating magnificently in his 'help' in finding this temporary cure. As it was, he did get shouted at very properly by Tatl earlier and is now wisely staying quiet regarding his own accomplishments lest they get flipped on their head and he got called a dingbat again.

As Link pulled out his bottles and them by those of the the innkeeper's, Ciela turned pointedly to Link, one wing tilted. See, Link doesn't have cookies in his bottles. The Hero of Winds grinned then reached over and patted the corked top of his cookie bottle fondly.

Then was the question of who will test it out. Link blinked. He haven't thought that far. He looked from one Hyrulean to another. The pig curse wasn't so bad, he was just unused to it and the older boy was sure the others view their own curses in much the same way as well but they still would rather the others remain uncursed for as much as possible. He looked down at his hands then sucked in a breath and started to write that he would test it if somebody could pour it on him. If he transformed back into a piglet as instantaneously as he did a boy then he wouldn't have hands to hold the bottle.

Before he could finish even the first word, Sheik had volunteered and Link's mouth opened to cry out in protest but again the princess interrupted, this time with very good reasoning. Link frowned then sighed and ruffled his own drying bangs. He sincerely hope that the hot spring was indeed a cure. It would be beyond dreadful if it didn't transform Zelda back the second time.

He quickly looked at Link and Impa, regaining confidence that everything would turn out fine just from the look of them and it surged even more at the Sheikah's words. The boy watched the Hylian princess as she climbed out of the spring, part in worry and part in curiosity. The transformation from boy back to girl had no visible changes so in theory the other way round shouldn't have any too. But he can't help but want to try and spot a difference anyway.

As Sheik raised the bottle over her head, Link sucked in a breath alongside her, not daring to blink until the cool water of the bottle was all gone. Even Leaf didn't need any hints to know the test was successful, they just had to see Sheik's red eyes widen and they knew. Link groaned, slumped into his crossed arms on the edge of the spring and bubbled gloomily in the warm water. Ciela landed on his hat, wings lowered to flap gently against the green material. They knew that the curse wasn't broken but to actually see it was another case.

"At least now we know what triggers it," comforted the yellow fairy. "And it's not just limited to the water from this spring. It would be a hassle to have to come back here each time you're in your other forms."

Leaf drifted to the other bottles then looked up at Impa. "Is it only water? If I warm up the milk and splash it, would it turn any of you into your other forms again?"

Link suddenly gasped out of the water, looking down at the hot water like it had done something astronomically incredulous. They can't go swimming! Not as Hylians at least! Not until they break the curse completely! But... IT WAS THE START OF SUMMER!

Instead of sinking back into the water in misery again though, the boy looked at each of his friends before inhaling sharply through his nose. Impa was right. The important thing was that they are all okay, they have each other and everything would work out. At the very least they are in for an very interesting summer this year.

Whilst he was glad to have been able to provide the bottle of water, Link soon blinked at Tatl's question, inwardly pondering over which one of them might be the best one to test it out on. Despite the different forms their curses took, the alternate forms all acted the same… so really, any of them was perfect to try it. His own rabbit curse wasn't bad… and even though part of him was almost certain that Impa would volunteer first simply given her nature, at the same time, he wondered if she would really be able to study the effect of the water if it was she herself that was splashed.

A moment later though, he widened his eyes as Sheik carefully took the bottle from his hands, voicing her own intention to test it out. "Huh?!"

Link was a breath away from voicing his own protest at Sheik's offer, but before he could say anything, the disguised princess was quick to reason out why she wanted to test it for them. Of the curses, hers did at least leave her as a Hylian… and expanding on his own thoughts regarding Impa watching to see if they could figure out just what reversed and activated their curses, he found himself unable to argue with his friend. Her reassuring smile and statement did help, and he soon nodded to her in understanding and support.

Exchanging a look with his older nametwin, and smiling a little sheepishly to him as they both helped each other regain some of their inner confidence, Link soon looked to Sheik as she climbed out of the hot spring, watching with bated breath as she moved to uncork the bottle. Whether the water activated her curse or not, he knew that everything was going to be fine… and whether or not the test proved successful, he knew that Impa would be able to better figure out even more about the strange curses they had been afflicted with.

Link and Tatl both watched carefully as Sheik moved to lift the bottle over her head, the former widening his eyes slightly when she poured the bottle over herself. As Sheik's red eyes widened just a moment later, Link knew what had happened even though he could not really see any discernible changes… and as she… he confirmed that he had changed again, Link's face fell.

"Ah… I… I'm sorry Sheik…" said Link as he caught his friend's stunned expression, glancing to Link a moment later at the boy's subsequent groan and slump. He nodded in agreement with Ciela's assessment though, soon glancing back to the disguised prince as he mulled over that realization. It was unfortunate that normal water had an effect for their curses too, but at the same time, the Spirit of Courage was right… at least they would not have to worry about coming back to the hot spring every time they transformed.

"Well, we know that regular water affects these curses now too… but what about it causes the effect to take place in either direction?" Tatl asked, chiming curiously as she regarded the transformed prince. The hot spring wasn't anything special, and neither was that bottle of water… so just what was it?

Just as the Hero of Time had hoped, Impa was able to use her Eyes of Truth to see just what had caused the curse to take place this time, and although he was relieved to now just what trait of the water would activate or reverse their curses, another part of him was stunned that it was something so simple. He listened intently as the Sheikah explained the mechanism of the hot and cold water for them, soon slowly nodding in agreement that they would all have to be careful. He quickly looked to Link at his sudden gasp, inwardly wondering just what that had been about… perhaps he could ask him once the were on their way back to the city…

"We have this much to go on now… but you guys had better not be getting splashed too often around this." Tatl looked at each of them, already mulling over just how they were supposed to handle these curses until they could fully cure them.

The true cure was still out there, but even with as inconvenient and uncontrollable as these curses were, again, at least they weren't permanent. Link could handle that… and as the older boy inhaled sharply to signal his agreement with Impa's sentiment, he nodded firmly, adding, "Yeah… that's right."

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Thu Sep 26, 2013 7:01 am

Sheik certainly appreciated Impa's own expansion on her reasoning for wanting to test out the bottle of water… her curse was not exactly bad, but the same as it was for her guardian and friends, she wasn't exactly used to it. The fact that the curse could at least be reversed even if it was not permanently cured was an immense relief, and she sincerely hoped that no matter what the test revealed, that if she did happen to change, that she would be able to change back to herself easily.

The change back to a boy had been just as sudden as her previous return to herself had been, and whilst Sheik was glad that the test had been a success, a small part of him could hardly believe that that was all it had taken to activate his curse. Thankfully, not only had they been able to determine the effect of regular water, Impa had been able to discern just what had triggered the change. The disguised prince's red eyes widened slightly when his guardian confirmed that it wasn't just water so much as the temperature of the water that caused the change… it was enough of a difference to make it easy to draw the line between what would activate or reverse a curse, but it was still remarkably simple. At the very least, he should be able to change right back with the hot spring… and Ciela was very right. Now they knew, and now they could better contend with these curses until they were able to cure themselves for good.

Sheik glanced up to Impa as she placed a hand on his shoulder, his expression soon mirroring her sympathetic one as he returned her grateful nod with one of his own. He knew that he always had her support, as well as the support of Link and Link, but the gesture was still immensely appreciated. Around Leaf's own questions and Tatl's characteristic quip, the disguised prince blinked and raised his eyebrows at the older Link's sudden gasp. Oh Nayru, he must have just realized something else that their curses might hold for them… and considering the sheer presence of water in a normal day, the possibilities were almost endless for the interesting situations they were going to have to dodge or sort out for the next while.

"Yeah… we are and will be," said Sheik, nodding to his guardian's reassurance before he looked back to Link and Link from where they still stood in the hot spring. Smiling a little sheepishly before letting out a soft sigh, he then moved to perform a Sheikah Vanish, soon disappearing before reappearing in the hot spring itself right behind his two friends, changing back as soon as she was mostly submerged again.

The change back was just as instant as the previous one, and the feeling of relief that came with it was the exact same as well… furthermore, whilst she knew that this was only temporary, the fact that she could even return to herself so simply was still very galvanizing. After a moment, Sheik placed her hands on the shoulders of her two best friends, looking to Link and Link before stating, "It's all right… like Impa said, we'll get through this together."

Impa nodded to second Ciela's comforting statement, smiling just a bit at her note regarding them not having to rely solely on this hot spring in order to return to their true forms. As unfortunate as these curses were, at the very least, any source of hot water could be used to change them back whenever they had been transformed.

"It does seem to be only water, yes," noted Impa, nodding to Leaf at his questions. Gesturing towards the Spirit of Power, she soon added, "However, I do think that your abilities will come in quite handy for as long as we are stuck with these curses, Leaf." The Sheikah doubted that Leaf would mind helping out with quickly heating up any water for them for the next while, especially given his dual love of heating things up and helping others out, but his offer was certainly appreciated nonetheless.

Impa glanced to the older Link at his sudden gasp, raising an eyebrow as she wondered just what he had realized here. Considering the way that he was staring at the hot spring, he had most likely thought of something else that their curses spelled for them... she had a few guesses regarding that, but as she herself started to think even more on just what all they would have to be careful with until they were cured, she knew that the highest priority at the moment was staying strong for each other. The curses were unfortunate, but they were not bad by any means... and the Sage of Shadow was determined to make the best of this odd situation.

Her smile broadened as her three charges seconded her statement about how they all were and would be okay, and a moment later, it brightened even more as Sheik returned to the hot spring via a Sheikah Vanish. Impa was glad to see that not only had the technique worked for helping her quickly return to herself, but also that the disguised princess was already recovering from the surprise of the curses so well. The creative use of the Sheikah Vanish was just one sign of that, and the smile she wore as she placed her hands on the shoulders of Link and Link confirmed it further.

Folding her arms once more as she looked to her three charges in the hot spring, Impa regarded them for a few moments. The Sheikah knew very well that all three of them had encountered and overcome far worse hardships both in this world as well as back in Hyrule... and honestly, an unlucky but temporary curse was honestly nothing compared to the other trials and tribulations they had each faced and conquered. The three kids were young, but they were all rather mature and very experienced... and if anything, Impa had a very good feeling that this time was going to wind up more as a challenge for them to become stronger and even closer through. That had always proven true before, and now, at the very least the circumstances were far less grave.

No matter what, their Hyrulean nature of facing things head on would see them through it all.

Nodding to the disguised princess at her echoing statement, Impa waited for a moment before smiling to Link, Sheik, and Link, noting, "Now that that's settled, I say that we all try to make the rest of this day match the first part of it. Shall we continue on our way back to the inn?"
