    Time: ???
    Date: ???

In the absence of light did Tally sink, her body falling and falling and falling... She was everywhere, she was nowhere, she was... here. The botanist's body landed upon something soft - something without much form. It smelled here; smelled of the deep, of salt. Wake up, Tally... Wake up. You were at the throne of a god.

Before you stretched a lengthy corridor, the walls rounded and made of a slimy, writhing material. Tentacles - the entire passage was made of black, slick tentacles. Up ahead there was a faint mist, a fog of war, that obscured Tally's vision. She could not see far in this place, this place of only one path, but her eyes were not necessary. There was only a single direction to take and she will haven to travel down it. If not, she will risk the danger of starving, becoming parched, and asphyxiation. Then it was decided...

    She must obey.

THROUGH ME IS THE PATH TO SALVATION.

IN THE UMBRA OF DESPAIR, I AM THE ANTICIPATION OF SOLIDARITY.

    I am the beginning...
    ...I am the end.
    I AM -
With no control over her own body, Tally could only watch from inside herself as she reached out. The mage scales had no power to prevent her, their frail tiny bodies dragging behind her as she pushed herself forward and touched the artifact. A horrible boom ripped through the air, knocking the Mage scales away, all that remained was she and the stone beneath her hand. Horrible thoughts, thoughts incapable of being deciphered by her mere human brain. If she could have thought she would have considered the feeling familiar to what had happened back in the pit. If she could think that is.

A long tentacle emerged from rip in space and wrapped firmly around her locked body before pulling her into the void. And then she was gone.

    - All.

    Somewhere, she was somewhere.

    Or maybe she was everywhere,

or perhaps even she was nowhere.

Wherever she was, it was dark and it smelled of salt. Her landing was gentle, no harm coming to her from her great fall, and she awoke no worse for wear. Only, she had no idea where she was. Sitting up she observed her surroundings and found the place quite frightful. Tentacles made up the walls in black, slick, undulating masses. There was no exit, save for the one in front of her, and there her vision was obscured by a thick fog.

There was no way but forward.

Not unless she wanted to die where she sat. With no choice, Tally rose from where she had landed to make her way down the path.

Clever girl. Tally knew better than to fight a power greater than she...

Beneath her feet the ground throbbed; it, too, was composed of nothing but swelling tentacles. This was a place made of nightmare. There were no exits or divergent paths, just the one. It delivered Tally to a voluminous chamber, and she will have to do her hardest not to become nauseous at the unsightly walls. Within this blackened prison, it felt as if the writhing cavity expanded and contracted - like the entire area breathed. Could such a thing be possible? If Tally concentrated very hard, she could almost hear a rhythmic beating, far away and faint... It was coming from below, where the tentacles upon the chamber's floor appeared the thinnest. There was no other way to go, except backward, and already this maddening place was taking its toll on her mental health...

Walking in this place was proving to be a challenge in of itself, the ground being composed of the same type of writing tentacles as the walls were. Tally could almost swear that she heard something, faintly in the far distance, or right next to her. The faintest whispers of inaudible words, out of the corner of her eye she was seeing something. Or thought she saw something, faces within the walls that would disappear when she looked harder.

    You're just making yourself paranoid.

None the less, Tally did speed up her pace. She was sure she was hearing something now, the faintest beating, coming up from the ground. She approached the spot she thought she could hear the sound resonating from, and found it to be thinner than the rest of the floor.

You might as well, there is no other way out of here.

Drawing her swords Tally cut, hacked, and slashed at the meaty writhing appendages, breaking through to the other side.

    Squelch... Squelch... Squelch...

Tally trudged forth into the chamber's center, her feet sinking into the black mass and soon up to her knees. The tentacles felt warm as they continuously slid against her, pulling and pushing whenever she moved. At the bottom of her soles the beating was palpable; the vibrations coursed up her legs, letting her know that something was indeed below. But how to continue? Although her swords were sharp, their edges sliced at the tentacles in vain. The writhing appendages reformed as quickly as they were cut, and the room suddenly trembled. It rocked and it shook, the walls and ceiling contracting rapidly. Something... Something was moving within the volatile mass around Tally!

Hands suddenly lashed out from below, their fingers digging themselves into her flesh. Tugging and jerking, they yanked at her body harshly in an effort to urge her below. Do you recognize some of these hands, Tally? Do you recognize them from some of your many adventures on Portal Breach? Struggle as much as you'd like, but you could not fight them forever... Soon you were tired, arms heavy... Why don't you listen to the voices and submit? Tally was overpowered and taken under, the last of her curly brown hair disappearing beneath the ebony current.

    Gone.

Tally shivered in disgust as the pulsating mass rose up to her knees. Her swords did little to breach the barrier that laid between her and the source of the pulse, the tentacles regrowing as soon as her blades dealt them damage. What's more, the room began to rock and shake! Tally ceased her assault in order to steady herself.

    What was going on?!

The walls and ceiling pushed out as if...something was moving behind the walls... Fear set deep in her, knee deep in the pit of tentacles would she even be able to escape if it came for her? It was already too late

Hands shot upwards, grasping hold of her too tightly, refusing to let go no matter how she fought. In the midst of her struggles Tally caught sight of the hands that were dragging her down. She knew these hands. They had held hers, had cradled her when she cried. Had played games with her and fought battles with her. Hands that had gentle tended to flowers, and hands that had wrought her destruction. Hands of those that she had brought destruction to.

She screamed as the darkness covered her head.

Down, down, down... Into oblivion, into madness.

Tally could feel tentacles squirm against her face, although she could not see. It was hard to breath and the air tasted bitter - acidic. They were taking her somewhere... Her body was being pushed, squeezed, through the dense mass like a newborn entering an awaiting world. But not once did they harm her, and Tally was thus expelled into an antechamber below. A sticky liquid, bilious in colour and syrupy, stretched down like a dewdrop with Tally in its middle. When it could suffer no more under her weight, it finally snapped and the lone tear plummeted to the teeming floor below. Again Tally fell into a soft pile of tentacles, leaving her body coated in a thin mucous, as air rushed into her lungs. Breathe... Breathe, and look around.

There were sacs - dozens upon dozens of sacs. Some had been cracked open, with caked-on fluid long since dried. A distasteful odor came from these and Tally had no business with them. Others, however, were bloated - filled. A cloudy membrane prevented her from peering into any of them at this time. As with the environment around her, these pods were organic - everything palpitated. It was therefore hard to see a rising lump beneath the ground as it stealthily approached...

    WHAP!

A gigantic tentacle, thicker than Tally's own body, parted from its lesser cousins and snaked itself around her. Helpless, she was snatched up into the air and wildly dangled high above as the floor gave way to a deep and widening pit - a pit filled to the brim with teeth; that spiraled all the way down upon rows and rows. Past the people-sized fangs and more than fifty meters down, a single eye - golden with one narrow, black slit - peered upward from the abyss to gaze upon her. A low groan shook the room and Tally's mind was flooded with stifling trepidation.

At last we meet, eye to lucid eye...
I suppose you think I shall consume your flesh...

For a tense moment the tentacle clutching Tally began to loosen, effortlessly bringing her face mere feet away from a grim and unsung demise.
...However, I have a purpose for you.
The tentacle then pulled her back up, its hold tightening, as the titillating whispers continued. she will not be devoured on this day.

Your fate is of my choosing, your notion of free will a fallacy. It is by my divine benevolence that you continue to believe in existence when there exists none.

The time for talk was thus over, and Tally's eldritch host guided her body over toward a particular sac. There was a shrouded body inside, huddled over and sickly...

All destinies are intertwined by the thread that I weave, life my wheel. No longer is there any use for this strand and you may do as you will with the husk, Tally Stevens...
    It knew your name...

Without warning Tally was wrenched away as another slimy tentacle wrapped itself around the sac. There was a sickening sound as foul-smelling liquid was released, but Tally would not be able to see the body. It, like her, had been so tightly-wound by their respective tentacles that seeing anything other than black was impossible. There were no more words spoken, no further exchanges. Tally was instantly coiled back and then cruelly thrown upward, fully aware as the stone in her possession released a blinding light. In a flash both see and the second body were gone, leaving the abomination and insanity behind down, down, down in the emptiness of Portal Breach.

You have no right to riches in a world where there are no prizes...

Memories: the corners of your vision are beginning to creak...

--The longer Tally stays within this hellish place, the faster her mind deteriorates.
--Third Stage: hallucinations ; everything is warped, nothing keeping still...

Thread is finished. Tally, and her fellow traveler, are both back at the Ss'ruul city.
