“Yeah, just a bit,” coughed Sokka before pounding his chest just a bit more and nodding to show that he was okay…. and in agreement with Korra’s assessment of Naga having just the right amount of protective tissue. “I’m all right; thanks, though.” The two friends had encountered plenty of trials so far and would likely have to contend with many more whilst they were in this world, but this Water Tribe warrior had full confidence that they could handle it just fine.

As Korra and Sokka contemplated different kinds of jerky and accompanying flavors, the latter found his mouth watering at the prospect of trying new meats. “Ooh… I’m sure they would… and I could definitely go for that!”

Korra wasn’t the only one who saw how Naga had been staring with great intensity, but whilst she was the one who fed her companion, Sokka just chuckled softly and tore off another bite of his own jerky. “Hey, can you blame her? This stuff is great! Although we might have to get Naga her own jerky at that shop just to make sure we can eat our own.”

"Alright, if you're sure. And you're welcome!" Korra responded with a nod, eyes watching him carefully to make sure he would be okay. His chest might burn for a bit, but he ought to be alright in a few minutes! The young woman relaxed back into her seat, offering her friend a reassuring smile. Each flavor of meat had its own taste, so surely new types of jerky would be amazing to try! Add in new flavors and you've got some great jerky potential! She laughed, grinning widely. "I'd love to compare the types of meat jerkies! I bet stuff like deer makes for a great jerky." The gamier the better!

Jerky just for Naga? Korra considered this idea as she chewed on her jerky, savoring the spices. Naga certainly liked the idea, looking at the two friends and wagging her tail. Her ears had perked up, tongue lolling out as the polar bear dog did everything she could to look innocent and worthy of jerky. Swallowing her treat, the Avatar smiled. "You know what? That's a great idea! Especially if they have some seal jerky, I bet Naga would love that!" The polar bear dog rumbled happily, resting her jaw on the couch cushion as her tail thumped against the floor even more. Her fingertips roamed over the thick fur affectionately. "Now that we've had some jerky, you think we're ready to open some presents?" She finally asked, an eager grin on her face.

“Trust me, I’m sure,” noted Sokka. He did greatly appreciate Korra’s concern of course, even with as minor as his coughing spell there was. The two friends were always set to look out for each other no matter how major or minor any incidents happened to be, and it was something that the Water Tribe warrior was always happy and grateful for. Unsurprised, but grateful nonetheless.

The very thought of comparing different jerkies only made Sokka’s mouth start to water further… meats they were used to… new meats they’d come to love in this world… different preparation styles… different seasonings… aah, it was almost too much to bear right now! “Same here… same… here. I’m pretty sure they have some just-a-deer and just-an-elk jerky. We’ll have to make sure to snag some of those on our visit!”

Pleased that both Korra and Naga liked his idea about jerky just for the polar bear dog, Sokka soon found himself shifting towards excitement at his friend’s next suggestion. “I”m ready if you are! Hang on, I can go get them for us.”

At that, Sokka hopped up and over to the far side fo the mantle. Whilst these two had not set up one of those fir trees inside, they had still made sure to set specially wrapped presents aside, combining both their own traditions with those of this world. Moving to carefully pick up one of the packages there, the one that he had carefully prepared for Korra, Sokka offered a sizable box wrapped in light blue wrapping paper that was adorned with snowflakes all over. His own grin peaking over the sizable blue bow, he stated, “Here you go, Korra…. this one’s for you.”

Right as rain, Sokka would surely recover from his brief bout of choking. He was a Water Tribe Warrior, after all! He'd had worse. Korra leaned her head back, her own mouth watering as well. Just-a-deer and just-an-elk! Oh, both of those sounded so potentially delicious! "Absolutely! We oughta make sure we've got enough to spare!" Perhaps by the time they finished their purchases of jerky, the two would be absolutely sick of the stuff. It would totally be worth it, though!

With Sokka's agreement, the Avatar couldn't help the giddy little grin that had stretched its way upon her face! Present time! Truly, this was one of the perks of this holiday. Not just the excitement of seeing what gifts she'd receive, but that same eagerness to see her friend's face when he opened his own gifts! "Okay!" It took all of her energy not to start bouncing on the cushion as her friend left to grab a present. It didn't take long at all for him to return. Reaching for the package, she gave him a smile before looking it over. Oh wow, it was a pretty good size! The wrapping paper was light blue, with cute little snowflakes all over!

"This is really cute, Sokka! I love this wrapping paper." And with a cute little bow on top too! Korra gave it a content pat. It gave beneath her palm easily, and so she gently removed it from the box. Rather than chuck it to the side, the young woman situated it on her own head as if it were a headband! "I can't wait to see what's in here...!" Mindful of the darling wrapper paper, Korra used her fingertips and nails to rip and tear through the tape. The process saw the wrapping paper mostly untouched! Her attention shifted to regard her gift, curious to see what was inside of this box!

“Hey, this is you and me! With jerky! We’ll always make sure we get enough to spare!” That was easy to do, both with the ready availability of the delicious food stocks, and the fact that jerky kept for an incredibly long time! That coupled with the flavors it locked in was just part of why it was so good!

Korra’s excitement was downright infectious, definitely adding to his own as he went to go grab the present in mind. Oh yes, present time… one of the best highlights of this new holiday!! Sokka grinned and nodded to Korra’s warm smile as he returned, feeling his own pride already boosting as she complimented him on the wrapping paper. “I’m glad you think so! I figured it was kind of appropriate for us… and a nice hue for this time of year.” Ice and snow were something that both Korra and Sokka were incredibly familiar with having grown up in the Southern Water Tribe, but as nice as it was to be able to enjoy weather outside of what they knew best, there as still something comforting and familiar about it. If nothing else, the warrior felt that the blue and white color scheme was a suitable shift from the trademark green and red that adorned so many things this time of year.

Unable to suppress a soft chuckle as Korra added the bow to her hair, Sokka’s own excitement rose a bit as his best friend opened up her present. "I just hope you like it." As she made her way through the wrapping paper and box, and of course past the white tissue paper that he had managed to find, before her sat what he hoped she would see as a small treasure trove.

Meticulously placed inside of the box and carefully wrapped in their own layers of white tissue paper were a a brand new pair of leather boots, a soft, fluffy scarf, an apparently handmade plush of a certain polar bear dog for added snuggliness, and last, but certainly not least, a series of four, very carefully wrapped scrolls, the forms of bending on them very recognizable to the Avatar no doubt, but still hopefully a piece of their homeworld that she would appreciate.

"You're probably sure!" Korra agreed with a grin. If they were able to collect a mountain of jerky, she'd be in jerky heaven! Great meat, delectable scent, chewy and gritty with great flavors. Who could ever ask for more?

She chuckled lightly. Snowflakes were definitely appropriate for a couple of people from the Southern Water Tribe! The blue was also a great choice, one of her favorite colors! "It's definitely pretty!" The color schemes and the wintery nature of the holiday were probably why this one was the duo's favorite. As she worked to open up her gift, Korra stuck her tongue out in concentration as she did her best to unwrap the gift without tearing up the paper. "Of course, Sokka!" The Avatar paused to give her friend a gentle smile. "No matter what's in here, I'm gonna love it!" Because it had come from him! With a final, reassuring grin, her gaze shifted down to the box as she pulled out the crinkly tissue paper. Four items were nestled inside of the box, wrapped snugly in a tissue paper. She pulled each one out to inspect the gifts, bright blue eyes wide as can be!

"New boots!" Korra gasped, looking them up and down with a grin. They were a lot taller than her usual pair, but they also looked quite comfy! She worked to kick off the pair she was still wearing, setting them down neatly by the couch to wait while she pulled these new ones on. Her toes wriggled within them, the young woman glancing down happily. "These are really nice, Sokka!" Next was a very plush little scarf. She wrapped it around her own neck instantly, enjoying how the baby blue color contrasted against her skin. The Naga plush made the Avatar screech out in surprise and joy. "SOKKAAAAAA! HOW DID YOU GET THIS?!" Her hands roamed down the downy fur before holding it out to compare it to Naga. "It looks just like her!" Naga added in her own approval by leveling her soft black nose to it and giving it a sniff. Setting it down on her lap, she pulled out the assortment of scrolls and sorted through them with an eager grin. Waterbending, Earthbending, Firebending, and Airbending scrolls! Some of these forms, she hadn't seen in quite a while! Korra carefully set them back into the box before she reached over for her friend to give him a strong hug.

"You didn't need to hope, Sokka, I love these! Your gifts are so thoughtful!" Her best friend obviously knew her well! "Thank you!" Giving him a firm squeeze, Korra broke the hug and pulled herself up off of the couch. She made her way over to the tree and looked for the gifts she had for her friend. She returned to her friend with three different items in her arms. The first that she handed to him was very soft to the touch and covered by a red and white striped wrapping paper. The second was a small yet firm box that was wrapped in red wrapping paper that was adorned with a smiling snowman and snowflakes. The last gift was long yet thin, the wrapping paper was green with colorful little Christmas light designs scattered around. Settling back onto the cushions and hugging her Naga plush close, the Avatar grinned back at her friend.

“Yeah, probably,” confirmed Sokka, just enjoying yet another perfect agreement between the two of them.

As this holiday got even more set, he was pleased that Korra liked the wrapping paper selection, and watched with both anticipation and mild eagerness as his best friend started to steadily, carefully unwrap her presented. Sure enough, each gift being pulled out had her widening her eyes and seeming more and more excited, which in turn only made Sokka feel happier and inwardly thrilled.

“Yep, new boots! I know your current pair is great, but you and I both know that nothing beats a nice new pair of them… especially given how much we run around in ours!” The Avatar moved to remove her current pair and trade them for the newly received ones, an act that by no means surprised Sokka, but one that had certainly happened a heck of a lot quicker than he had anticipated. At least she liked them, and they seemed to fit okay! His size investigation seemed to have proven successful!

Next came the scarf, and Sokka was pleased to see that she liked it too, readily moving to wrap it around her neck. Scarves might not have been a trademark of either of their main styles, but this time of year? And in particularly cold weather? They were pretty fantastic to have. And of course, the next item – namely one plush of a sweet, fluffy polar bear dog – brought on a somehow even more excited response than he’d expected! Even better, Naga seemed to approve as well! As for how he got it, whilst Korra was better inspecting the custom plush, Sokka just chuckled, rubbed the back of his neck, and explained, “I might have found a custom plush maker at a smaller market… and I might have brought some references of Naga…. and I might have commissioned them to make a plush version of her… and it does, doesn’t it?! I’d seen their work but even this blew me away! I’m just so glad you both like it!” Nothing could ever dare to replace the original of course, and this was certainly not intended to even be a substitution. But being able to have a smaller, extra snuggly form of the sweet beast in addition to her fluffiness herself was surely a great bonus.

Last but not least, Korra moved to pull out the scroll collection that Sokka had found. And no sooner had she assessed them all with a happy grin than did Sokka find himself the target of a strong, awesome, and very welcome hug. Outright grinning himself, he snaked his arms out to make sure to return the hug in full. “I’m glad you love them!! I tried… and you’re very, very welcome!” Returning the big embrace as best he could, Sokka made sure to stretch a bit once the two had ended the hug.

Now that Korra was set, it appeared that it was his turn! As she went to collect three different items, all three very different in terms of shape, weight, and feel, he carefully gathered them up, set to open them in the order that he had received them. Grinning back to her as he started to tear open the red and white wrapping paper, he stated, “You found some nice wrapping papers yourself! I’m just as excited to see what’s in each of these!”
