    Primal Instinct

Post by Ariana Lee on Thu Aug 20, 2015 8:26 am

    Time: Noon
    Date: August 20, 0006

How silly was she, to put this off for so long. The idea kept buzzing in her mind, ever since it popped in her head the day she met Goten and Trunks. Go out to the woods, let loose. Find some prey, let loose. It really was rather silly, to put her plan to go out to the forest off. Things seemed to get in the way, or Ariana told herself there was too much to do...really, she had just been a bit nervous. Her time in the Breach seemed to bolster her strength, as her instincts felt more in control than they ever had been. Yet, there was that lingering danger in her mind, that fear of what could go wrong. If she let herself loose in the forest to hunt for an animal or two, would she wind up enjoying it so much she'd move to people? The very idea made her blood run cold. Eventually though...the need kept building and she knew if she didn't release it, the very thing she feared may wind up happening anyway. It was better, to go to the forest. When was the last time she had shifted to her wolf form, allowed herself to jog freely among the trees and bushes instead of keeping cooped in the city? It was a lot like cabin fever.

Once she made up her mind, it really was quite easy. A couple days off from work, a bag was packed with the essentials...and Ariana was on her way. Usually, a trip to the forest would call for long sleeves, to prevent ticks. Considering her condition though...Ariana decided to keep to a pair of short shorts and a simple tank top. Clothes that had been getting ragged anyway and wouldn't be missed. The bag bounced off of her back lightly as Ariana turned her back on the city. The constant buzz and noise was behind her, save for the sound of cars on the nearby highway. Wind breezed through her hair, strands ripping and obscuring her view through the glasses. The young woman smiled to herself, and continued on her way. The path was longer than she remembered it being, grass crunching beneath her sneakers softly as she made her way through the grasslands. Every so often, her head would turn to watch a rabbit scuttle through the blades of grass and slide into a hole. No, no...this wasn't her place to hunt. That rabbit would go to someone else.

Ariana could remember some vague warning about the lake, and so as she walked she gave any lakes she came across a wide berth. Whatever was happening that issued a warning, she would not tangle with. This was a trip for fun, and she would rather not die! Up ahead she could spy the mountain range, tall stacks of earth rising higher and higher into the sky. It was a lovely view, it reminded her of how amazing it was for all of this to be here. Another breeze came through and Ariana paused to simply admire it. A wide, clear open space... The city was great, but it could be so cramped. So many box-like buildings shoved into each street, room enough only to walk on a sidewalk or drive on the road. But here...here there were no restrictions. The young woman could walk any way she wished, any side of the grass she cared to. It was liberating, freeing! There was no one else to slam into, nobody who's way she was getting in! Just her and her alone with the wilderness around her!

As she walked around the very end of the mountain range, she could spy the trees ahead. The sight of those towering, leafy giants was enough for her to break out into a jog. As she approached the treeline, she was suddenly aware that she wasn't so alone anymore, but that was fine. Her stomach rumbled and the young woman smiled, showing every tooth. She didn't need to be alone here. Small animals scurried and poked their heads, peeking through leaf and bush and branch. No doubt, they could sense what she was. Ariana continued to jog until she approached a tree with a frayed, lower branch. She pulled off her backpack and hung it on the branch as if it were a coat rack. Resting a palm on the tree, she kicked off her shoes and shoved them to the base of the tree, socks stuffed within them. Now--ah! She had nearly forgotten! Ariana pulled off her glasses and folded them, stuffing them likewise in a shoe. This was it. This was her moment.

Hands ran their way through her short, black hair. Ariana closed her eyes...her breath quickened, as the young woman focused on that feeling. The cabin fever, the need to hunt, the freedom... "Ah-!" She gasped out, collapsing to all fours as her skin seemingly began to rip at the very seams. As it slid off, seeming like mere cloth or wrappings, dark brown fur took its place. Ariana's bones began to shift, her slim hands became clawed paws. A tail jutted out from her backside, and a muzzle grew from her face. Ears moved to the top of her head, swiveling this way and that. Her teeth sharpened within her muzzle, and she grimaced at the feeling, baring them. Once it was complete, Ariana's eyes opened, a yellowish-orange now, and she threw her head back to give a hearty howl.

    ARRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The wolf faced front, ears moving forward as well as she began to pick up the sound of something rustling about...small, from the sounds of it. Of course, she was pack-less. It'd have to be small. It would do. Her paws dug into the ground before she took off, legs carrying her to where her ears told her the scuttling was coming from. There! Ariana circled behind a fallen log, pace now gentle and quiet. She peeked her head around the side, spying a rabbit. A nice, plump brown one at that. Her head moved back behind the log when the rabbit turned its head. Could it hear her? She waited, and looked again. Its back was now to her, though it was facing the other direction. She could see the twitching whiskers. It must know she was here...but it didn't know where she was! Waiting seemed useless as her eyes focused, and she took off. Nearly the moment her body left the hidden refuge of the log, the rabbit began to run as well. It only seemed to make her blood pump faster. He was running! Her eyes were center on the fluffy tail, white underside facing her as the rabbit hopped away. It turned this way and that, moving in a chaotic fashion as it attempted to shake her off. Ariana was relentless, and every turn the rabbit made, she came closer and closer until-

    SNAP

Sharp teeth clenched down, the small animal struggling for a moment in her mouth. Ariana had managed to grab him by the feet. Guess they weren't very lucky. Though this kept it from running off, the rabbit was still moving and attempting to kick his legs out of her mouth, shrieking loudly. Ariana threw her head back, mouth opening and closing a few times as she changed the position of her bite. It only took two more gnashes of her teeth for her to find the spine of the rabbit, clamping down hard. The rabbit's cries stopped, and it went still. She turned her head back to the forest floor, dropping her prey and inspecting it. Her wet nose hovered above the fur, taking in his scent. The fur tickled, and she let out a sneeze before cocking her head at her prey once more. The first prey she had had in a long time...too long. Another rumble of her stomach urged her to stop playing with her food. Ariana's body flopped into the leafy floor of the forest, paws pinning the rabbit before she brought her muzzle down and began to chew. Her tongue lolled out, bits of fur falling into her paws and the ground. Eugh...eugh...she snorted, muzzle coming down again and gnawing until she found some muscle. The wolf pulled, tearing the muscle away from bone and chewing it up in her mouth gratefully. So fresh... She continued to dine, the only part of the rabbit that was left was the fur that had now surrounded the area where she had been laying. Otherwise, everything had been consumed. Bone, meat, even organs. The rabbit didn't have a lot to offer when it came to food, but the thrill of the hunt was still great. With a content huff, Ariana lumbered away, deeper within the woods.

Well today was a day of relaxation for the Piper.

The immortal humani lies upon the crook of a large tree in the middle of the forest, her eyes glazing over as the sun rises to its peak in the sky. How long has it been since she just enjoyed a moment like this? Far too long? The expanse of brush and wilderness on this plane are almost unnatural, due to her own knowledge of the mountains and woodlands on Earth being etched into her mind. But for now... it does fine. Her morning was quiet, she had set the family on their way, Doing rounds of scouting for her not exactly good purposes. So she was alone. Not even Suzanne was with her today. No. Maybe not alone.

Despite the crawls and creeps of the wood, not a one lands on her exposed skin. A thin layer of aura disposing of any so brazen. She wears naught but a small purple paisley sundress over her slim form. Some call her a hippy, but anyone would want less clothing on them if they had the sense of touch she had. Her dirty blonde dreadlocks pour over her face, sun leaking through the spaces in between. In her hand she smoothes over the handle of Carnwennan. The sheathe for the dagger and belt of the flute she carries hangs on a branch next to her. She looks down. Oh she is high up. Her smile turns into a biting grin. Simple pleasures...

    Arooooo?

Her awakened senses catch the sound. A howl? Oh. A wolf nearby. Has she... she hasn't joined with many creatures since she regained some of her powers. That is indeed saddening. It was one of her favorite things about transformations!

Nessa smiles as she drops out of the tree, the smell of blood trickles into the air and a brown and blonde wolf, slender and lithe with bright red eyes, lands softly on a bed of red aura. Aaahhh... this form is indeed freeing. Her aura wrapping around her and molding her flesh into the new creature she is. Her body moves on its own, it seems. Darting headlong into the thicket, though making hardly a sound. Her new body's muscles flexing and relaxing as the thrill of chase enters her own psyche. Let us find the howler. Colour her interested.

A higher pitched howl escapes her maw as she slows for a moment. Wolves, like herself, much prefer warning before intruding on what could be a hunt. She slows further waiting on an acceptance to her intrusion.

Oh how her curiosity cannot be sated. But at least she's being polite!

Ariana could sense something was nearby. Something...off. Different. She couldn't place it, but it made the fur along her back raise up. The wolf came to a stop, eyes attentive on her surroundings as she turned her head. Her ears swiveled in every direction, soon picking up on a high-pitched howl of some kind. Her head cocked to the side, ears still pricked to determine where it was. Was this another wolf? Perhaps even a werewolf? Her nose twitched, and Ariana lifted her muzzle towards the sky. The air smelled rather bloody...though it could have easily come from herself. Ariana licked her chops, savoring the blood still on her teeth. Whoever this other wolf was, they seemed to be polite enough to not attack, to not steal her food, and to announce themselves.

For a moment, Ariana thought over how to respond. She had hunted with normal wolves before, and back when Jake was around, she had hunted with him as well. However, hunting with normal wolves meant needing to find a space in an already established hierarchy, or finding a lone wolf and joining them for a hunt. Werewolves were a better hunting companion too...and though this wolf may not be a werewolf, Ariana was quite sure it may not be a normal wolf. At the very least, she ought to welcome the other wolf and see what happens. Ariana was sure she could handle herself if things went wrong. The wolf sat and opened her maw, letting loose a howl that matched the one that had been sent out in the first place. High-pitched, and slightly welcoming.

    Ah. And there it is.

Positive tension runs down her furry back as Nessa the wolf cannot hold her excitement. She yips, turning her head toward the howl and kicking up a few twigs before her dead sprint starts. A few woodland creatures, a few squirrels and a rabbit hop by, and though the instincts of the skin she is wearing match her own, she seeks the companionship more than the food. Her survival is hardly in question.

As she runs, her aura spreads around her and her eyes glow red with anticipation. She just now realized that she is on Portal Breach still. This could be any type of wolf creature, and the mundane is far from commonplace in these parts. All the more reason to investigate! Her ears twitch at the sounds of another creature and her nose takes in the smell of fresh kill. Her mouth hangs open in a pant, most likely the first noise she has made since her yip. Even in the heightened moment she cannot stop her silent predator instincts. This would be mere moments after her initial howl. Her aura helping her to attain speed very quickly.

The blonde wolf slows, taking slow breaths and showing her tongue as she nears the source of the smell. Indeed another wolf. Bigger than her and darker. She stops at eyesight, wagging her tail and cocking her head at the larger.

An air of ancient animal shrouds Nessa. An instinct she perfected in the Appalachian mountains. The animals understood very quickly that she was to be respected and in kind they shall be respected.

However... her instincts and knowledge play out in her head as she stays sitting in the brush under a tree. This... This doesn't feel completely like just another wolf. Well, in any case if this shewolf is anything else and they want to make it known, it is up to them~

She lets out another soft yip at the brown wolf, then sniffs forward.

'Ome 'ere! I wanna sniffs yas!

A yip was Ariana's answer, and then came the sound of running. Paws striking the ground, kicking up dirt, leaves, and any other debris. Ariana's ears zeroed in on the direction the sound was coming from, almost eagerly waiting to see who was coming. The only other wolf-like creature she knew of was Skyler, and Skyler was a robotic wolf. This...didn't sound robotic at all. The wolf's thick tail wagged in long, slow strokes. Maybe it was another werewolf? Any kind of shapeshifting would be welcome, and perhaps even a normal wolf would be welcome too. With the canine body came a peculiar aura, and she began to prance in place, paws rustling about in the dirt and leaves. Finally, the wolf was closer and the two looked each other over. Ariana couldn't help but cock her head at the sight of the other.

No wonder this wolf gave her a warning before approaching...the she-wolf was quite slender and thin. Yet, despite her seemingly weak frame, there was a certain air about her that told Ariana that seeing her as easy pickings would be a mistake. Was this wolf an Alpha of some pack...? Ariana's tail dropped down low, and she dipped her head to face the ground, respectfully avoiding the other wolf's eyes. The coloration of the wolf was also interesting, a mix of blonde and brown. Very pale, especially compared to her own dark fur. This had not been entirely expected, but it didn't ruin her trip. If anything, it made it exciting! Even more exciting was when the other wolf yipped. Only then did Ariana's bright eyes raised to look back at the other, head cocked to the side as she soaked in what the other was saying. Aah, she wanted to sniff her!

Ariana yipped in returned, trotting over to the other wolf. She sat herself down in front of the blonde wolf, sniffing forward as well before giving a yip of her own. As long as you don't mind me sniffing you back! Behind her, the big fluffy tail thumped against the forest floor, allowing the other the first 'sniff'. She would find Ariana to smell very much like a wolf would, though with an undercurrent of the city still present in her fur, smoke and urban life, a very present smell when one ignored the deep canine scent. On her paws and muzzle would be the smell of her recent kill.

Nessa's slender wolf form stood slowly, and trotted leisurely toward the sitting wolf in front of her. Oh well, this is welcome! The other She-wolf had no qualms with the comradery amongst the lupine. As she neared the darker wolf, her nose hovered in front of the face of the other, her red eyes shining unnaturally for a moment and the pressure of her aura becomes far more dense. But, suddenly, it lessens to almost nothing as the blonde wolf's nose presses against the shoulder of the other, her nostrils flaring, and allowing the other to take in her scent as well.

Nessa smells of the wild, a musk of woods, for now. Her aura mixes in as well, the bloodscent thick underneath... but the city. The city is the foundation scent, just like the darker wolf's. Nessa smiles inwardly, her wolf form's mouth grinning. So this ISN'T just a wolf. Her suspicions were confirmed. Hopefully her inner voice isn't rusty.

From Nessa her voice rings within both the wolves' heads.

It's not every day, a loup garou meets a métamorphe, dear. How are you on this fine day?

Nessa's playful tone rings with the thought of her own dove-like laugh.

Her wolf form cocks her head after her last sniff and catches the other's eyes. Her mind goes dark, but her intent is clear, not dangerous. Nessa's tail wags at the tip excitedly.

She stamps her paws restlessly, she's even more excited to meet another skinchanger.

    ARRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    Wolves.

Spotted ears flick to the right, sensitive hairs on high alert. And they are close, comes a thought. Coarse hands grip against bark, and the Leopard Warrior at once propels himself ever higher into a mammoth old tree, deceptively agile for his brawny stature. It was a rough perch for the evening and its branches were dense with glossy leaves and skittering insects, but it shall do well enough for his purposes. He rested his only possession, a broad steelsword, against the bare skin of his abdomen and quietly slipped into a light slumber. The predators ought to be gone come morning.

The other wolf came very close, Ariana could feel the breath and moistness of the other's nose as it hovered before her own. Ariana's orange eyes flickered up at odd intervals, refusing to maintain eye contact for very long with the other. The red eyes were very striking against the light fur, and they held a shine that didn't seem entirely natural. The aura of the other intensified for a moment, the air becoming heavy and thick. Ariana's nose turned down to the grass and dirt in response, ears flattening against her skull. Just as fast as it had intensified though, the aura suddenly died down and the other wolf pressed her nose against Ariana's shoulder.

Her great head lifted, glancing down at the other and allowing her the first few sniffs before her own nose pressed against the blonde fur. Her damp nose nudged gently against the other, nostril flaring as she took it in. Wilderness, nature. The thick scent of trees and the grass were the first scents, settled easily on the top coat of fur. There was a thick scent of blood, and some of that same air the wolf seemed to carry about her. The blood scent was rather funny, considering how clean the fur was...no stains to be seen. Ariana sneezed and glanced at the blood red eyes questioningly before she continued to smell. Deeper than any surface scent, was a very familiar smell. The base scent was that of the city, which meant this wolf must frequent the city on a daily basis. The wolf snorted and backed up to look the other in the eye, head cocked curiously. From the grin on the other's mouth, it seems the other had made the same discovery. Two wolves couldn't walk around a packed city...which meant neither were what they seemed to be.

It's not every day, a loup garou meets a métamorphe, dear. How are you on this fine day?

Aroo? Ariana's head cocked from side to side, eyes blinking and ears swiveling. A voice in her head, this one different from the one before and yet...it was from the same wolf. And it was...familiar. Neither a name nor a face could be placed, but it didn't quite matter! She let out a quick bark, both front paws flattening against the ground in a crouch, her back legs still raised high along with a wagging tail. Her pointed ears were perked up, grinning as well. A métamorphe, was she? I'm very good! It's the first time in a long time that I've left the city, decided to come out and stretch my legs for a bit. I didn't realize there was anyone else here who could turn into a wolf...how about you, how are you today?

The other's excitement was contagious, almost like a puppy! Her own paws wiggled, toes digging into the grass and dirt and tail wagging frantically behind her. The only thing that slowed down her wagging was a gust of wind that brought a faint smell with it. Cat...? But not entirely... Something different. Her head cocked to the side, but unless whatever this was approached them, she was content to let it go about its business.

The sitting blonde wolf's tail wags in unison with the other's. He head swiveling in the direction of a new scent, her nose flaring once before deciding it's not worth her time. The werewolf in front of her has her attention, and her mind's voice lets loose a chuckle.

"Oh I can empathize, dear. It's difficult even in this realm to maintain appearances. And I don't just turn into wolves, I just haven't taken this form in quite some time. I missed it. I heard you in the distance and appreciated your kill. Well done. If a bit rusty~"

Her wolf head ducks a bit, a growling chuckle in her throat.

She stands up, walking to the other side of her, sniffing at her again. Sitting back, she lets loose the skin on her body, her red blood scented aura covering her like a cocoon before leaking away from her skin, and she stands in front of the other wolf in full human form, her body unclothed. Her tattoos glowing on her right side and her dreadlocks in a heap upon her head.

"My name is Nessa, and what is yours?" She leans on her hip, perfectly comfortable in the wilds. She has spent such a long time out in the city she forgot the freedom of nature. A smile is on her face, and her heart is alight.

Maybe after introductions... a hunt is in order. The predator within her mind growls in apprehension.

    They are still there.

Two scents, two distinct barks and growls. A spotted ear flicks in their direction, golden eyes closed in loose rest. Calloused fingers resting beneath his sword's cross-guard tightened around its weathered grip. And they know I am still here, he thought. Of course they did, for were they not wolves, champions and hunters of the untamed wilds? Ah, but as alert as he may be, the sharpened metal of his blade capable of separating a wolf's shaggy head from its heated neck... His grip loosened as the Leopard Warrior's taut muscles eased into a soothing cadence of gentle breath. Unless these wolves were conveniently knowledgeable of climbing trees and snatching prey off a branch, he had little to fear. Let them howl and let them mingle; even the creatures of the wood deserved their socializing with kin.

The brown wolf let out something of a bark, her best mimic of a laugh. Oooh yes, it could be very difficult to maintain appearances, particularly when a disaster seemed to be raining down upon your head. Dark auras, death, destruction...all of it could get stressful, and sometimes maintaining your form as a human became secondary in the face of continued survival. However, Ariana's head quirked with interest upon learning that turning into a wolf was not all this female could do. Really...? The tail wagging, which had paused in her interest, started up once more. What else can you turn into? Was she bound to animals, or could she very well turn into anything she wished? How about a dinosaur?

Her broad tail thumped against the dirt and grass even more when the other complimented her hunting. The wolf bowed her head, ears turning back almost shyly. Thank you. She would gladly take the compliment, and she wouldn't deny that her hunting had been a bit rusty. It had been a long time since she actually went out for a hunt. She had always wanted to go out with Jake but, well...that's the way the cookie crumbles. Ariana's head followed the other wolf as best as it could as she moved around to sniff the other side of Ariana. Getting a good sniff from all sides? The other wolf sat again, though the air suddenly took on a heavy smell of blood. Coming from the other wolf, too! The larger wolf picked herself back up onto all fours and stepped back from the other as the strange scent of blood covered her like a cloak. A transformation ensued, Ariana not exactly a stranger to such a thing, and she stared as the other's form was revealed.

A woman! ...A naked woman! With a startled yelp, Ariana redirected her orange eyes onto the ground, staring down at her own paws to give some form of respect and privacy. From what she had managed to see in that glance though, the woman owned blond hair, same as her wolf form. Her hair had been done up in dreads, and there was some sort of glowing design along her body. A tattoo...? A name was given, and combined with how she looked, Ariana realized that she may have seen this woman before. In passing, perhaps... Certainly made sense with that strange aura around her. Gaze still directed at the ground, she nodded her head. Ariana Lee. Though Nessa may have been comfortable revealing herself in all her naked glory before the other wolf, Ariana most definitely was not. Her paws lightly stamped the ground again, and her nose perked up as the scent came on the wind once more. As she got a better sniff, she found the smell of 'cat-but-not-cat'...oddly familiar. Her head turned to the trees for a moment, still giving Nessa her privacy as her nostrils flared. Hm...

Nessa, after her moment in human form, quickly realizes she made Ariana uncomfortable, she turns her back to her, quickly wrapping herself in her aura and hiding a bit of a blush. Not so much for her own embarrassment, but more for the other she-wolf's modesty. Nessa's always been a wild child, but that doesn't mean she hasn't the manners to deal with this sort of situation! As the blood smell reenters the air, her visible red cloak of aura sinks into her skin once more, her previous form of the blonde wolf from before now sitting politely. She stands on all paws and walks up to Ariana, her nose coming down to the abashed brown one and touching it to get her attention.

I apologize dear, I sometimes lose sight of social convention when I'm like this. All's well though. Right? And I can turn into just about anything my size... or around my size. Some larger men are more difficult to turn into, but not out of the question.

Her head perks up, her ears going flat against her head as she sniffs deeply. The smell continuing to waft upon the air. Cat. Well, it's not sneaking up on them, that's for sure. She nudges the ground with her snout as she brings her attention to Ariana once again.

So, Ariana? That's a beautiful name. I don't think I've met you in the city yet. I'm glad I could meet you out here to see you in your element. Now... I haven't eaten yet. And your hunt has gotten what wild blood in me boiling...

She isn't lying, her aura even sticks to her skin, framing her wolf body like a dark red outline. She stands, her claws sinking into the ground and her tail going dead still.

There is plenty of prey around. Do you mind if we go on a run?

Her body turns slightly, that same ancient presence thick in the air for all but a moment. The Piper may be sociable, but right now she is wolf. And she hungers.

Ariana's bright, orange eyes remained averted to the ground. This only changed when that similar scent of blood appeared in the air again. The wolf glanced up, just in time to see the latter end of the other's transformation, crimson aura hiding her body as it shifted back into a blonde wolf. The dark wolf's neck raised up, tail wagging behind her as the remnants of the awkward situation were washed away. A mix of being used to more human standards regarding nudity, along with the usual sort of awkwardness of seeing the naked body of a woman you pretty much just met... It made for an awkward cocktail, though no grudge would be held. A damp nose pressed against her fur and Ariana returned the gesture, snuffling into the blonde fur.

No harm, no foul. Sorry if I made that weird... Honestly, the younger wolf had to chalk up 'seeing another woman naked' as being one of those things she seldom experienced. We can pretend that that never happened, if you want. No need to linger on it, right? Lingering on it would just make it...weirder. Her nose removed itself from the other's fur, and Ariana cocked her head curiously. Sounds like a lot of variety. Many things could be about the size of a woman, if you really thought about it! Her ears pricked up especially at the last part. You can turn into a man...? Can you make yourself look like any person? It sounded like a true shapeshifting power! The only real hang up was the size thing, but it wasn't an impossible situation or power.

The other wolf went attentive, sniffing and snuffling. She must have smelled him too, though like Ariana, Nessa must have come to the decision that the cat smell wasn't dangerous. A doggish smile found it's way on Ariana's muzzle as she dipped her head to Nessa. Thank you. Your name is lovely too. Short, but sweet! Nessa did not remember meeting her, though Ariana saw no reason to correct her. It had been brief, after all. Ariana merely nodded her head and stamped her paws into the grass. The blonde, lanky body grew an outline of striking red as the other spoke of hunting. She had not eaten, and Ariana's own hunt had stirred some wild blood in Nessa. Yes...that need to hunt. To find prey and clamp down with sharp teeth.

Though Nessa was a smaller wolf, her presence and very aura was commanding and old. Powerful. Like an Alpha's. Ariana would gladly let the other be the Alpha for this run, her claws digging into the dirt as she bared her teeth, still stained in a bit of blood. I don't mind at all! Between the two of us, maybe we can bring down a stag... Working on her own, Ariana usually had to settle for small prey, weak prey, young prey, or older prey. But to have a young buck... She licked her chops at the very thought of it and hunkered down to the ground, legs tensing like springs beneath her. I'll follow your lead.

Nessa's new blonde fur bristles as her ancient presence spreads out into the forest, like a small tingle in the back of your spine, it creeps into the very fiber of the wood. Her eyes glow deep red and she hunkers down. How is this done again? Oh yes, overwhelming confidence. Complete delving into the hunt and no turning back. The soft-furred wolf turns her head toward Ariana, a very wolfy grin splayed on her animal face. She is already enjoying this outing, and it has barely even started.

"I can indeed turn into anyone. Animals are my favorite though. Much more useful than most human forms. They also come with nifty little instincts. But I'm sure you already know that, dearie~" Her eyes turn toward the wood again, her aura spreading thin amongst them, she's found plenty of game. Four rabbits, many squirrels... nothing like that is big enough for the two of them to share... wait...

Her presence turns from a simple aura into an overwhelming thought. Ringing within her mind at the same time Ariana's sentence ends. A young buck, only just entering the immediate area. The musk of large animal is almost immediately upon Nessa's nostrils and she lowers herself to the ground, the claws under her paws scraping ground in anticipation.

    Ariana wrote:I'll follow your lead

Her own thought rings out with staccato.

    Then I will.

Turning her head toward the stag's location, Nessa darts off. Naught a sound to be heard as she circles around to the left. Tactics are required, but Ariana seems to be one in her element. She trusts a stranger only for now, but she really hasn't much to lose in this case.

Her flight of foot takes her through brushes and twigs, her paws knowing where not to step on the pure instinct required in this form. Ariana would be able to sense her presence... but the stag... The six points on it's head scrape against the tree, marking it's own area. He knows nothing. Nessa slows her movement and comes to a halt not thirty feet away from their prey. Assessing Ariana's movements.

Ahead, cut off his exits... The end of the thought trails off in whispers, voices not of her own, but only for a moment.

Ariana's own dark fur bristled at the presence, and after a cursory glance she realized that it was coming from Nessa. No intruders waiting to pounce, just her new acquaintance, reaching an invisible hand out into the forest, or so it seemed to her anyway. Between that feeling and Nessa's glowing eyes, Ariana was tempted to ask what exactly Nessa was. Sure, she mentioned being an ectomorph... But to Ariana's knowledge, general shape-shifting wouldn't give someone such an...odd presence. The woman consistently had a feeling about her, an old one, heavy and almost humid. It was a bit suffocating, as it commanded respect due to its very nature. Not that she minded giving respect, she was no Alpha and so she owed respect to anything much stronger than herself. Nessa seemed to be a woman you'd want on your side, rather than against you. Ariana bounced about on her paws, her eyes taking on a little shine to them that echoed a glow. It deepened the orange color of her gaze, and the dark wolf chuffed as she bounced lightly on her paws. No matter what manner of creature Nessa was, this hunt was going to be interesting! Ariana grinned back at her companion, excitement written across her wolfy face.

Though Nessa could turn into all manner of things, she preferred animals. Ariana snorted lightly, nodding her head in agreement. Oh yes... Sometimes, they can be annoying, but for the most part? They're pretty great. My instincts are like a second skin now. They're like...a part of me. She had been living with these instincts for half of her life by now, and to even think of living without them seemed inconceivable. I almost wish I could turn into something other than a wolf, though... That is a power that sounds amazing, especially in the hands of a creative person. Not that Ariana would really call herself 'creative'... Nessa though? She seemed unorthodox, which meant the woman was practically bursting with creative energy.

Ariana's nose suddenly tips upwards, nostrils flaring as she breathes in the scent. A young buck, quite close by. It was a prey that she would never go after on her own...though at the moment she was not alone, was she? She turned to her antsy companion, grinning as her own paws sunk into the dirt, toes digging in. Nessa took off like a rocket, and close behind her was Ariana. Her mouth was parted slightly as she ran, taking in deep breathes and breathing them back out as her legs pushed her forward, closer to that delicious stag. Through the bushes and over sticks she bounded, eyes narrowed in on the prey. Only once Nessa slowed did Ariana, moving at a crawl as she kept her body close to the ground. Her tail remained stiff, though a ghost of a wag teased at her tail every now and again. Excited, ooooh she was excited. Her orange eyes narrowed in on the antlers as the stag scraped them across a tree. Those could be troublesome, but well worth the reward... He was much more plentiful in meat than a fawn, more sporting than a doe, and healthier than an elderly deer. It had been so long since she had a buck...

Giving a brief nod, Ariana did as Nessa asked. Remaining close to the ground and moving softly, deliberately... If Nessa came at him from behind, he would dart ahead, into the area of woods beyond the tree he was currently scraping his antlers into. Ariana circled around, giving the stag a wide berth as he marked his territory. In a wide circle, she positioned herself among the bushes and trees that lay ahead of him. Her dark colors allowed her to blend in with the shadows. If they played their cards right, the stag would not know she was ahead of him...until it was too late for him. Her ears swiveled ahead, nose still flared as she took in deep breathes. Her body hunkered down low, and came to a still. Muscles tensed beneath her, like a spring. Waiting...
