“That I can,” replied Ryoko, grinning a bit at the question from her new friend. Barriers were something that varied wildly between every person that could make them, but the core concept behind them all was the same. As far as the matters of weapons went, “Energy blasts aside, I mostly use a beam sword that I can generate, like so.” At that, the former space pirate drew her right arm down as though she were unsheathing a sword from midair, right as a bright orange beam sword appeared in place. She didn’t swing it around or anything just to keep showing that she was trustworthy here, but she did keep it up for a good bit… and how could she put it down just yet when Kyoko exclaimed that the two of them could kick ass together one day? This was perfect!

Ryoko’s grin grew at that exclamation, because not only was it an exciting prospect, she could not help but feel the exact same way. Kindred spirits were often found in the strangest places and ways, and today was just a nice boost to that whole thing. As Kyoko noted that she wanted to see some of her own powers, Ryoko took the chance to move her beam sword around a little bit, just showing how it was truly stable despite materializing out of nowhere. With a flex of her hand, it faded even more quickly than it had appeared, and she noted, “I’m all too happy to share those! And I want to see your own powers too!” Different kinds of powers could be exciting, and that was all the more true when it came to the abilities of your comrades.

Nodding as Kyoko confirmed that she was in fact from Japan, Ryoko tried to think if she had heard of either of those cities, but neither one was ringing a bell to her. “Ah-ha, good to know! I can’t say I’ve heard of either city…. but who knows? Maybe we weren’t too far from each other. The shrine I stayed at was in Okayama.” Soon after the two confirmed that they’d both been living in Japan, Ryoko blinked as she found herself under the scrutiny of narrowed eyes. Thankfully, the question that followed them was pretty simple. “Yeah, I am actually.”

"Cool!" A couple a' barrier gals! It wasn't a very common ability, and now Kyoko found herself wondering how their abilities compared! "A beam sword?" Her brows raised up, high enough to disappear beneath her bangs! Before the teen could ask to see, Ryoko was two steps ahead of her! Pantomiming the action of unsheathing a sword, a bright orange beam appeared in her hands! Seemingly out of nowhere! "Eee!" Exclaiming excited, Kyoko came closer to looked the weapon over! Her hands looked tempted to reach out and touch it. Would it be cold? Hot? Could it potentially cut off her fingers? It was totally worth the risk, but she found it in herself to not just shove her palms onto that beam. "It looks like a lightsaber! That's badass!" So awesome!

With bright and eager eyes, she eagerly watched Ryoko move her beam sword. Despite being made out of some sort of energy, it looked as stable and firm as a real sword! It faded with a flex, and Kyoko was almost disappointed. The idea of showing off for the older woman kept her spirits high. She grinned, showing off sharp canines. Despite how much effort she'd put into hiding her gem when Ryoko first appeared, a bit of conversation was enough for her to feel like she could trust her! At least enough to show her moves! A hand stretched out in front of her body, palm facing the roof. Out of her ring materialized a red, egg shaped item! It lingered long enough for the half-Goddess before her hand clasped around it tightly! The fingers of her other hand touched the item clutched in her palm and pulled back. From the very center came the top half of her spear! The shaft looked as if it was made of gold, the spearhead triangular in shape. Shiny as if it'd been freshly buffed, she grinned back at her acquaintance.

"Here's the lance I was telling you 'bout! I can't pull it out completely right now, but it's big. And it can break into pieces that are held together by a chain! I can kick loads of ass with it!" As far as abilities go, there wasn't much else she could show off presently. Kyoko bounced the Soul Gem in her palm lightly, the lance bobbing before it slipped back inside. "You haven't?" Her fingers curled around the gem, a little concerned frown on her face. The redhead was used to people not knowing where she'd come from, but they typically didn't know about Japan either! Ryoko had been in Japan, so why didn't she know those towns? Deciding not to think too much about it, her eyes lit up curiously. "Hey, I know Okayama! I've never been there, but I've heard of it!" How weird! And with that confirmation, Kyoko did little else but nod to show she'd heard her. "Okay! So...is the alien the other half or is the Goddess part of you the alien part? And if you're an alien, why were you in Japan?" It was kinda weird, right? Her head cocked to the side. "You weren't stealing cows or nothing, right?" Especially interesting since she had such fancy powers.

Ryoko could not help but grin broadly at Kyoko’s apparent excitement, and that expression only grew a touch at her giddy exclamation. The mention of something called a lightsaber was not a new one to Ryoko (at least since she had come to this world), but as much as she appreciated that comparison, she loved the note of it being badass even more. “Isn’t it? It’s as badass as it is fun.”

Whilst she did let her beam sword dissipate for the time being, she could certainly summon it again before too long. But this was just one of the many powers to display between the two ladies here, so it was fair to let it take a bit of a break… there was plenty more to see, even in just this first encounter.

The former space pirate read Kyoko’s grin loud and clear, and she soon focused on her new friend’s own gesture. The ring she wore was soon proven not to be just for show, for from a near display of a holographic/energetic egg shape came the top of a lance! So that was how she held onto her weapon of choice!! Ryoko couldn’t help but whistle softly at seeing the head of the metallic weapon materialize, her own grin returning in full as she focused on the delivered description of it. ”Very, very nice… that’s an impressive weapon there… I can definitely see that much even if you can’t pull it out completely right now. I bet you kick loads of ass, and I would love to see that some day~” Preferably via the two of them kicking the collective asses of some enemy before them, but still.

Shaking her head as Kyoko returned her lance and asked about her hearing of her own city, Ryoko’s smile returned as it was revealed that the magical girl knew about Okayama. “Excellent! It’s a bigger city, but not massive like Tokyo or anything.”

As far as the halves of her origin went, Ryoko soon folded her arms before tilting her head to the side. “Well, technically I was made from alien cells and the egg from a goddess… so they’re both half of me. If that makes sense. As for why I was in Japan…” She didn’t usually like to share this part of her backstory, but the younger girl had already opened up so much from her earlier walls. It was only fair, really… and something about Kyoko just told Ryoko that she could trust her here. “Well… no… I wasn’t stealing cows. … … … I was under control of a real jerk of a bad guy, fighting the prince of another planet… in that fight, he chased me all the way to Earth, and I was sealed in a cave near a shrine there. I was stuck there for 700 years.”

Badass and fun, oh those were the magic words for gaining Kyoko's attention! She grinned widely, eyes practically sparkling! What cool tricks that thing ought to be capable of! It almost made her envious. Cool as magical girl weapons were, they truly were physical weaponry! Whereas Ryoko's beam sword was obviously more futuristic in style. The use of energy in a way that wasn't purely magical was new and interesting to the magical girl. Though for all she knew, maybe Ryoko did use magic to summon her sword? Agh, so many questions!

Kyoko beamed at the sound of whistling. Sure, it wasn't a light saber, but it still got the job done! The redhead wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. A shame she couldn't show off the cool chain trick, but there was always another time! With her spear carefully tucked away, and as they talked the gem would seem to disappear from within her grasp. In truth, it would be safely hidden in her ring once more. "Oh yeah, I'm a beast with my lance! I've had it for years so I know how to fight with it like I was fighting with a third arm!" She knew her weapon inside and out, all the strengths and weaknesses that it carried. "I'd like to show you sometime! And maybe you can show me some of your funky beam sword techniques!"

Okayama definitely wasn't as big as Tokyo or Yokohama, but it was still recognizable! The kind of name she remembered reading off of maps of Japan when being schooled by her dad. The story of Ryoko's parentage seemed like it'd be a weighty one, and so the teenager leaned back onto the edge of the roof to sit. The talk of cells and eggs reminded her of the 'birds and the bees' talk, earning a small look of disgust on her face. But okay! Alien cells, egg from a Goddess. Two halves makin' for a complete whole. "Makes sense to me!" She leaned back onto her hands, fingertips drumming against the concrete lightly. The story for how the older woman wound up in Japan was unfortunately not as cut and dry as her origins. She listened, a frowning growing on her face more and more as Ryoko spoke.

Mind control, being forced to fight some prince, chased all the way to Earth and then sealed up in a cave! For 700 years! "Geeeeez...that sucks." Kyoko huffed, awkward for a moment. What was she supposed to say to that? Sounded like a bad situation all around. Curiosity nibbled at her mind and so the teenager looked back up at the older woman. "Were you unconscious that whole time, or did you have to pass the time by like...just spacing out and staring at the walls?"

Ryoko’s grin might as well have been made permanent at catching Kyoko’s own sparkling eyes, pleased once again to be in the presence of a kindred spirit and having a blast sharing powers and such. Too many people felt that an exchange like this was simply showing off, but to the former space pirate, it was just another way to have fun.

As far as her new friend’s skill with her lance went, Ryoko winked a bit and nodded, “I bet you are… knowing how to use your weapon like that and as an extension of yourself is key to being a master with it.” As far as being shown the full, proper use of her lance sometime, “Sounds great to me! We’ll have to find a place that’s not the top the inn and make that happen!”

Whilst Ryoko did not fully get the momentary sketched out look from Kyoko, she did understand when the frown formed for her. The former space pirate was not one to just divulge her own backstory super casually, but when she felt her instincts were spot on about someone, she was more set to… and on the Breach, it was usually safer to share that considering the fact that she wasn’t exactly wanted in the same capacity here. The accurate assessment of that situation brought a small chuckle from Ryoko, just before she added, ”Yeah… it did suck.”

The next question was definitely a good one, and although it brought back some less pleasant memories, Ryoko did smile softly at the subtle concern voiced in it. “No, I wasn’t unconscious, unless if you count when I actually slept there. Most of the time I just had to sit there really… there was only so much I could do in a day in that cave. Thankfully, I could see outside of it at least… and I did get to indirectly know someone who later became very dear to me just by watching over him.”

"Damn straight!" The magical girl agreed with a grin. It was a mistake she'd seen from rookies far too often to count. Hurling their weapons around blindly, not taking the time to get used to it. Waving crap around all willy nilly. Some stuff couldn't be learned without some experience! Ryoko was certainly experienced, admittedly a lot more than Kyoko on account of...well, being a super old adult! "Yeeeah... That'd be a good idea." She glanced around the cozy little roof. Cozy picnic tables, a bright and colorful garden, and that big ole bell. Also known as, collateral damage. "I'd hate to tear this place up!" Which, with her oversized spears and Ryoko's beam sword? Would no doubt happen.

Suck indeed. Ultra suckage. Supreme suckage. At the alien woman's agreement, Kyoko could only nod. Flipping her ponytail behind her shoulder, the teenager listened with arched eyebrows. The suckage...only increased with the reveal that Ryoko had been conscious all those years. Sure, she was able to nap, but there was no way to sleep the whole way through. "Yeesh. You're lucky you didn't go crazy!" She exclaimed bluntly, almost amazed. "I hope you had room to move in there at least!" But what was this? The redhead cocked her head to the side. "You could see outside of it? Through, like, a crack? Or was it some sorta power thing like seeing through walls? And who was that?"

If there was one thing Ryoko appreciated aside from a kindred spirit, it was a good fighter. Even for all of her past adventures, escapades, and even squabbles, she did enjoy a good battle. And as her fellow fighter agreed that showing off their weapons and techniques was best saved for another time and place, the former space pirate gave a very strong nod. “Definitely! There are too many other perfect locations to do that… no need to mess up anything at the inn.” She might not have lived at the inn herself, but Ryoko still liked and respected it. It was a good establishment and was also a place that many a friend of hers called home. This meeting place aside, she was positive that Kyoko might appreciate some place out in nature, the stadium, or even her mother’s lab.

“Heh-heh-heh…. yeah, you’re right about that…” Ryoko chuckled and had to agree with Kyoko’s assessment. Whether through her own willpower and resilience or some outside supreme luck, she had managed to make it through that… not with her best moments at first, but hey, she was still herself deep down, and that was what counted. As for the question of movement, Ryoko nodded before added, “Yeah, I could. It wasn’t huge, but I was at least able to move a little bit.” It was more cramped that the former space pirate wanted to admit, especially given how being stuck there for so long had adversely affected her, but she was at the very least not confined to an even tinier space.

Kyoko’s questions continued, and Ryoko found herself even more pleased with her new friend’s curiosity. It might be relating back to a previous less than positive experience, but she wasn’t just being nosy for the sake of it. It was kind of refreshing, honestly. (Not that being nosy was always a bad thing… but this was a different matter entirely.) “Yeah, I could see out. It was an invisible barrier at the entrance, so that was really my only view. As for who that was… one Tenchi Masaki; someone who’s especially dear to me. He’s the one who wound up freeing me, actually.”

Kyoko offered a little shrug in agreement. "Can't go wrong with the stadium, right?" The place was pretty much made for sparring. Unlike the inn, there'd be no worries if they messed that place up! Seemed like it kinda refreshed or something! Neither energy sword nor spear would be too much for the stadium. And it was always nice to stretch the muscles anyway. She needed to get in more casual fights under her belt instead of always tussling with witches.

Having some wiggle room probably did a lot for helping Ryoko keep her wits about her. She was lucky her muscles didn't atrophy! "I dunno what I'd do if it was me." The teenager huffed softly. "I'd just be super pissed the whole time!" Nothing like a bit of spite to make the hundreds of years tick by faster! Leaning on the side of the building, Kyoko continued to listen with an arched brow. "Oh right. Invisible barrier thing, probably cause of the seal. Like a one-way mirror, huh?" Tenchi Masaki was it? Didn't sound familiar. Whoever he was, definitely meant a lot to Ryoko. Probably on account of him freeing her from such a crummy prison! And speaking of, how in the heck did he manage to free her anyway?

"So like...did he wind up using some magic to free you? Or was it magically binding like 'only he who is pure of heart...yada yada, opens the seal'?"
