    Sweet Delivery

Post by Diana Ridley on Sun May 14, 2017 11:57 pm

    TIME: 12:00 PM
    DATE: 5/14

Diana hummed softly as she stepped off the bus she’d taken to get back to Lunette’s tavern, she was finally happy with the way the cookies had turned out after a tweaks to the recipe she found and it was time to make a delivery. She smoothed out the dress she’d bought just recently, thanks to finding out that all the money she’d had on her person had transformed into the currency of the Breach upon arrival. The young woman tried not to be embarrassed by it, really, how was she to know that would happen? Back home if you so much as went to another country you’d have to get your currency exchanged.

Shoving the embarrassing thought from her head she started towards the tavern, a tin in her hands and her purse hanging from her elbow. Diana really hoped that Boon would like the cookies, she had really wanted to thank him for how helpful he’d been and the kindness he’d shown her. Really, she considered him to be her first friend in Portal Breach, and if it hadn’t been for him she wouldn’t have even known about the Sanctuary or even met all of her other new friends. Diana couldn’t begin to repay him for that, but she could definitely try.

The only thing she could think of, for now anyway, was baking him something. Perhaps she could bring him some food every once and awhile. She found that those that cooked weren’t often cooked for, and she and her grandmother had always appreciated it whenever food was given to them as gifts.

Her new friends, Scaramouch, Kev, even Bailey (but especially Scaramouch) enjoyed directing some playful teasing about her self given task. Implying she had a crush on him and such. Sure she may have called him a hunk accidentally and he was as sweet as can be… But that aside they’d only known each other for a short while, and besides that she was just… Maybe not boring, but more... Ordinary. Painfully so compared to her new companions, and she couldn’t help but feel self conscious about it.

Her heels clicked against the wood as she climbed the stairs to the door of the tavern and knocked on the door, wondering if anyone would be able to hear it, or if they were even near the that part of the building. "Hello? Boon? Collins?" She called.

Unfortunately for Diana, the Tavern didn't actually open up until two hours later.
Fortunately for Diana, Collins had exceptional hearing, and heard her presence even from downstairs. It took the gargoyle a moment to recognize the voice, but once he did, those colorless pupils shifted from his book over to his daemon companion that was flinging quarters into a small cup. Plink! Boon was rather good at tiddlywinks, despite the game having no utter use in real life situations, evident by how many quarters were inside the cup. It was almost filled to the brim, and the daemon aligned his last quarter, waiting for the right time...

    "Hey, Boon."
"... Yeah?" The daemon didn't bother looking up, then plink! The coin landed perfectly into the cup, as per usual, and Collins continued. "Hm. I think that girl is here to see you." Boon quirked his mouth to the side, lifting a brow as he tried to recall who exactly the gargoyle could be talking about. There were a couple of girls he had talked to within the last couple of weeks! There was that snake lady that left him a good tip, a couple of human girls that came around for a birthday party that enjoyed petting him, and then that blue canine looking woman that enjoyed his gunshow! Heh... there were a lot of girls the daemon enjoyed entertaining!

Collins' ears flattened, brow furrowing. "... Boon. It's the human girl--Miss Ridley. Go see what he wants, will you? Instead of leaving her out in near the line of a forest that may or may not have bears..." Boon snorted and stood up, dusting off his hands and walking past the gargoyle, "I'ma gettin', I'ma gettin'..." he waved his hand nonchalantly as he walked into the hallway, up the stairs and through the kitchen, heading to the front door. Hey! It was Diana! What was this pretty lady doing here so early?

Clicking the doors open, Boon gave his sincerest smile and greeted her. "Howdy, Miss Ridley~ What'cha doin' out here? Kinda early t'be drinkin', but eyyy... I won't judge~" He gave a wink, his grin growing wider.

Diana hummed softly as she waited patiently for an answer. Perhaps Lunette forgot to mention that she'd be showing up, not that she would blame Miss Kitty for it, she probably had a lot on her mind and a lot to do. She didn't know what all went in to running a business, but she was sure it was a good bit of work, especially with so few for staff.

As she waited she the young woman couldn’t help a little growing anxiety. Was she being too forward? Would he even remember her? It had been a little while and he undoubtedly saw a lot of people in such a nice establishment. Was she just making a fool of herself? Why was she so nervous about this in the first place? Diana looked down at the tin in her hands, she’d never gotten so worked up over a little delivery of thanks. She’d made up food for gifts for friends and family before and never once felt like this. For a moment it brought to mind how some of her friends would act around guys they liked, on edge about how the boy in question would think or react to this or that. She hadn’t understood it at the time.

It hit her then, making her cheeks flush from more than the afternoon heat. Gosh darnit, the scat bot had been right and she wasn’t sure how to feel about it. Diana took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of her nose. Crushes often didn’t end well, not in the experiences she’d seen with her friends.

Finally she heard footsteps and the door creaked open to reveal the daemon in question, she returned his smile. “Hello sugah,” Diana greeted back, her smile fading to a confused quirk of her lips and one of her brows raised at the drinking comment. That wink and grin made her heart beat just a tad bit faster, just a tad. “Well, while it might be five o’clocck somewhere that’s not what ah’m here for, hon. Ah’m actually here for you, to give ya’ a little somethin’ that is.” She silently cursed herself for the slip and hoped her recovery helped her.

Someone was here to give him something? That's... new. The daemon gave a befuddled look, scratching the side of his face with a large claw before moving away from the door. "Er--okay. Well, if ya wanna come in, ya can. Wouldn't want ya t'be out in this harsh light!" Once inside, the door was closed, and the daemon fidgeted, giving the woman space but still curious as to what it was she could've brought him. "So uh, ya likin' this place? Treatin' ya good?" he asked, trying to make some small talk. "If ya wanna sit down, ya can! We don't open fer another two hours or so." A sight most didn't get to see was an empty tavern; chairs weren't set, the floor had been vacuumed and the windows weren't even open. It was a little lounge-like in atmosphere with the lack of natural light, but still pretty relaxing.

Boon would soon find a place to sit once Diana had decided, taking a chair and sitting in it backwards, resting his arms on the back of the chair. "Kinda curious--what did ya bring...? Ain't no one's brought me somethin' b'fore! S'kinda nice." Those white eyes squinted as his grin appeared, tapping the back of the chair a little.

Diana tilted her head at the daemon’s confused expression, poor dear looked almost lost. Had… Had no one ever given him anything before? No, that couldn’t be it, it couldn’t be. She didn’t even want to think about someone never having gotten a single gift from a friend or family member before. “Oh thank you hon, while ah’d hate ta’ impose it is a bit warm out here.” Especially in the layers she was forced to wear during the day just so her skin would be safely out of the light. Diana stepped inside, a little relieved by the lack of natural lighting, she was safe for now.

Was he figeting? The poor dear must have been anxious to see what she had brought him, and he was still trying to bring up small talk despite it. She smiled up at him “Ah’m enjoyin’ mahself here, ah’ve met Ms. Lunette and Scaramouch and a few others.” She knew that he’d know those two, one being his boss and the other working here, not to mention probably being by Lunette’s side whenever possible. Goodness they were so cute. “Oh! Thank you, hon.” Diana looked around for a moment, noting most of the chairs were up on their respective tables but she soon found herself a seat. Upon taking it she smoothed out the short skirt of her dress over her tights and took off the large sun hat, floofing up her hair some with her free hand as she set it down.

Boon took a seat himself, sitting in a chair backwards with his arms up over the top of it. The poor dear had obviously put off asking about the gift for as long as possible and she wasn’t about to tease him with it. She grabbed up the tin but paused when he confirmed her earlier thoughts. Diana looked up at him, eyes wide. “Really… No one?” Oh but that grin made her blush a good bit as she handed over the tin. “Ah hope ya’ like ‘em! Ah just… Wanted ta’ say thank ya’ for all you’ve done for me that first night, ah’da been lost without your help.” Once the tin of cookies had been handed over she brushed a little hair away from her still red face as she glanced away.
