    Familiarity

Post by Virana on Wed Sep 26, 2018 2:48 pm

    Date: September 26th, Y9
Time: Sometime close to after midnight

    What a miserable circumstance.
Taken within a vortex beneath the waves, only to arrive at some odd place with several just as odd inhabitants. She had emerged from the ocean and found herself near a city not too far off the coastline, though it wasn't quite as familiar and homey as she was hoping. A few days of aimlessly wandering and keeping near water sources until she managed to find the Sanctuary, where the only water source there was a chemical-filled pool. Disgusting, but better than nothing. Thus, she met a few of the... locals.

Most surprising was that, apparently, her dear friend Lunette was here as well. She was surprised, but not shocked. The feline had been missing for little over two months back home, and Virana had thought the worst... luckily, that was not the case, according to her... uh, guide. An android, tall and slender, with a rather large mouth told her a few important things, particularly where Lunette was and that she was doing well. Back at the tavern, something also not surprising to the Diwari, and most likely asleep.

The bus took them out of the city towards this new tavern of hers, while the... uh... Scaramouche, as he called himself, accompanied her. He and Lunette seemed rather close, which was fine--no judgments here--but odd. Personal happenings had her assuming the Anitra would not be interested in such things, but this place was quite different and... honestly, didn't seem as dangerous or lucrative as home. Not yet, anyway. So for the most part, Virana was very quiet, merely listening whenever the android spoke and answering his inquiries with simple yes or no answers.

The bus finally stopped, and up the road, there was a familiar place. It felt... nice seeing it again. Though the lack of water for miles wasn't exactly ideal. This would be worked out later. For now, Virana wished for nothing more than to truly see if Lunette was fine, and to, perhaps, collapse in a bath of water and sleep for a few days.

"That is the place, right? It's very nice..." she said quietly, keeping up with Scaramouche's gait easily. "... Do you live there with her? That is not too personal to ask, is it?"

Scaramouche may respond at his leisure!

Aw, things weren't so bad! Maybe a lil' bit... but only a lil'.

It was very difficult for Scaramouche to stay still. All throughout the bus ride - hell, even before then - the android just wanted to pick Virana's fishy brain for the fathomless wisdom it contained. What was Ahn'Imret like? How come Lunette hated it so much? How and when did Virana meet the Anitra? And (this was admittedly a shameful thought) what were her past boyfriends really like? Scaramouche wanted to know all this and more, but he knew better.

Like the denizens of the deep, Virana - a Diwari, she called herself - wasn't the most... emotional sort. In fact, she was kinda... well, cold! As cold as a fish, and that put Scaramouche at a severe disadvantage. Her simple 'yes' and 'no' responses effectively shut the android up for most of the ride to the tavern. Awkward didn't even begin to cover it. The android minded his manners and tried his hardest (he really did!) to not insult Virana in any way, shape, or form. Could you imagine it? Him, royally flubbing up with Lunette's friend? Scaramouche may bark and he may enjoy a collar, even a firm tug of a leash (for his oh-so-kinky needs), but he was no dog and he didn't fancy doghouses. He passed the time by fidgeting with his shirt's buttons and looking out the bus window, finding whatever zoomed past his optics more captivating than the quiet mer-creature seated beside him. Silence had never been his forte... Not since -

"Next stop: forest's edge! You two gonna be safe walking in the dark like this?"

    Finally.

Scaramouche was practically chomping at the bit to speak. "We'll be A-OK~! Thanks for the concern, Jack." Note: the bus driver's name wasn't really Jack. It was just a casual moniker the robot assigned him, and the driver didn't seem too chuffed. 'Jack' might've even liked it. Cyan optics glanced down at Virana. "It's not much longer now," the robot murmured. "Another five minutes and we'll be there, tops." Five minutes and thirty-nine seconds, in fact. Five minutes and thirty-eight seconds, five minutes and thirty-seven seconds, five minutes and...

True to his words, they reached their stop without much fanfare (or conversation) and Scaramouche couldn't wait to stretch his legs. "Whoo-hoo~!" he cried happily, throwing up his arms. "Time to go home, baby! Thanks for the ride, Jack~! Couldn't do it without ya." Robot and driver said their usual goodbyes, leaving Scaramouche to impatiently follow after Virana's... flippers? Claws? Webbed... toe-thingies? Eh, either way, the policy was ladies first and he waved as the bus took off in a cloud of diesel fumes. "Buh-bye~!" the android grinned. Always be kind to your bus drivers; they might just leave you high and dry at some desolate ghost town. He once again glanced down at Virana. "Anywho, I guess you wanna just, like, vamoose on over, right?" Probably didn't wanna talk, either... Or be escorted arm-in-arm, let alone walk abreast with him. For the umpteenth time tonight, Scaramouche frowned and said nothing. R-Right, to the tavern.

At least the journey down the path was relatively short. Any longer and Scaramouche was gonna whittle his fingertips down to metal nubs.

"That is the place, right? It's very nice... ...Do you live there with her? That is not too personal to ask, is it?"

    HARK, SHE SPEAKS.

"Mhm, mhm~!" He eagerly nodded, lips upturned in a generous smile. "I do live with Lu, and I'm glad ya find the aesthetic pleasin'! We both worked hard renovatin' it - same with Boon and Collins! You'll p-probably rub elbows with 'em soon..." Collins' demeanor was likely to jive well with Virana's (aloof, curt, emotionally stunted, etc...), but Boon was another story. They'll... get over that hurdle when the time comes. For now, Scaramouche dutifully led their guest to the tavern's bulky front door and opened it for Virana, trailing after her tail once she set claw-feet inside.

The Diwari's senses were immediately hit by the aromatic touches of home-baked goods and faint remnants of earth and wood, the air a pleasurable warmth. It wasn't too cold and it wasn't too hot. Collins was very good about that. A cozy hearth flickered in the main dining area, the room bathed in the inviting orange glow. "So, what d'ya think~?" Scaramouche asked with a smile as he quietly closed the door. With a twist of the iron lock, the android wiped his shoes on the jute welcome mat before stepping over Virana's tail. He was used to such antics with Lunette's. "Pretty swanky, right~? The old place wasn't cuttin' it for Lu's sanity, hence the facelift. I find it much more positive like this, y'know? More open and not as dark - like a cave or dungeon." She probably didn't, no. But that was fine! Scaramouche was honestly making conversation just to have it, and soon the android gestured for Virana to have a seat on one of the many comfortable lodge chairs around the hearth.

"Please, have a seat," he urged kindly. "I'll go rouse the sleepin' dragon while ya soak in the ambience~! Also, uh... wouldja care for anythin' to eat or drink while ya wait? It wouldn't be any trouble, and it's on the house! Just say the word, hon hon~!" Like damn near everyone else Scaramouche served, his probability algorithm foresaw Virana's polite refusal. Still didn't hurt to offer, though. And who knows? Maybe she'd surprise him.

...He also had a greater likelihood of being struck by lightning right then and there, but hey! Exceptional hospitality was an art in and of itself.

    What a strange person.

Virana was not familiar with mechanical beings, not even golems or the like. As such, she didn't really... know what to expect with this... person. Loud, boisterous, flamboyant, flirty... very unlike the other individuals that she knew Lunette had been with. But, certainly not someone she saw the Anitra disliking. It was hard not to listen to them, after all, when their mouth was so large that it could fit in both of her hands...

Though she had no idea who a Boon or Collins was. She assumed they were workers, perhaps on-site staff that lived nearby. Whatever the case, the musical android was kind enough to hold the door open, allowing her to enter first. "Thank you," she said softly, nodding in response as her nose wiggled and slightly scrunched in response to the scents that smacked her in the face. They weren't unpleasant, just many, and unexpected by the variety. Bright magenta eyes looked around swiftly, though her head remained immobile.

"You have a lovely place here," she replied, turning her head to look at Scaramouche. He was still a strange sight to her, mostly by his sheer height and large mouth. "Yes... the previous tavern I remember was rather dark and enclosed." Like a... well, a stereotypical tavern! One you'd find when traveling, full of weirdos and possible bandits or escaped convicts. No, this place was far nicer, open, perfect for sun to break in and to stare out at the scenery outside. Quite nice, and as Scaramouche suggested for the Diwari to sit, Virana followed his lead and took a seat that stared right out a window to see such sights.

Talk of waking Lunette made Virana turn her head back to the android, as he offered her a drink or food of some kind. There was nothing she wanted right now... except--"may I please have a glass of water?" she inquired politely, fins lightly wiggling at the thought. Being so far inland made her anxious, but a little water helped to ease such troubles. "Thank you kindly for your assistance and guidance, Scaramouche."

"May I please have a glass of water? Thank you kindly for your assistance and guidance, Scaramouche."

    Welp, consider the android struck!

One of the quickest ways to Scaramouche's heart was impeccable manners - especially when spoken to as an equal and not as a... well, robot. He tipped his hat to Virana with a warm smile. "But of course~! It's my pleasure," he answered. "Now, lemme fetch ya that glass of water. Be right back!"

Y'know... as strange as she was, the Diwari wasn't a bad catch. Scaramouche still struggled to read her lack of facial expressions and level tone, but - all in all - Virana wasn't unpleasant. So far, at least! He was more than happy to fetch their guest a cool glass of water (a friend of Lunette's was a friend of his!), and he carried it out to the Diwari promptly. If she wished for a straw or for a handful of ice, the robot would of course comply with her request. "Here ya go~!" Scaramouche chimed in his sing-song way. He waited for Virana to accept the glass before taking a step back, not wishing to infringe upon her personal space. "If there's anything else I can get ya, please don't hesitate to lemme know! Enjoy~!" Alright, now to wake the sleeping beasty blowing Z's above them.

Always the pinnacle of etiquette, the robot excused himself before slinking away, his large feet echoing - thump... thump... thump... - up the stairs, his optics traveling down the second story hall with a soft, cyan glow.

Okay, okay, okay... What was Scaramouche gonna tell Lu? How was Scaramouche gonna tell Lu? The incorrigible imp in him whispered that he tiptoe around the Anitra's bed and tickle her feet, maybe even lick them, but he simply looked at the camera - at you - and narrowed his optics. "I don't have a foot fetish." No, the robot was going to wake Lunette up the proper way, and as he eased himself into her bedroom, as quiet as a church mouse and mindful of where he stepped, Scaramouche leaned over the slumbering puss-puss with his hand outstretched.

    Rustle, rustle...!

"Lu!" he whispered, gently shaking the Anitra's shoulder. "Lu, wake up! We got company downstairs~! Get dressed; they're expectin' ya shortly."

The sleeping beast of fluff was curled up in bed, snuggling onto a pillow. The very corner of said pillow was nibbled softly as she slumbered, a light purr following each tiny nibble, and nails extended from her digits as she kneaded into the captured cushion. It only took a single guess as to what (or whom) she was dreaming about!

    "Lu!"

"Prrrr..." She snort-purred at the sound of Scaramouche's voice, squeezing the pillow even more and drooling all over it.

    "Lu, wake up!"

    "Hngmll...?"
Big, tired blue eyes opened slowly and looked around in a confused daze, only to be greeted by a familiar sight. "Scmoosh..." she mumbled, grabbing onto him and forcing him down onto the bed with her.

"We got company downstairs~! Get dressed; they're expectin' ya shortly."

It took her a moment to realize what he had said. Eyes opened once more as she rubbed them and released her grip on the android, yawning afterwards. "Oh... I'm sorry... I thought you wanted to snuggle..." she mumbled more coherently, still rubbing her eyes. What time was it even? It didn't feel like the time to wake up! And who could be visiting at this hour? Scooting the edge of the bed, Lunette stretched awake and rubbed her head, hair a bit of a mess. "Okay... I'll get dressed and meet them downstairs... thank you for waking me..." she said in a quiet tone, still half-asleep.

The feline stood up and stretched once more as she went into the bathroom to freshen up, and put on something a bit more appropriate to greet their guest in!

...OH MY GOD, THAT WAS SO CUTE.

Scaramouche almost felt bad disturbing someone so adorable and fluffy, but no! He had to wake up Lunette so she could reunite with Virana! Aw, but the drool, tho... "Hon, hon~! Oh mi vefo..." His thique pud-pud could sleep through the apocalypse and she still wouldn't budge. As much as the robot's chest blossomed with limitless love for his sleeping 'jeicmuko', it was with a heavy heart that Scaramouche squeezed the Anitra's shoulder yet again. "C'mon, sleepyhead~!" he urged softly, smiling wide. "Ya can sleep in later, promise. But ya gotta get up before your friend dries oouUUT - !!" Fwump! ...Aaaand now the robot was currently face-first in the sheets, swept off his robo-feetsies by a cuddly, sleep-drunk Lunette. GadZOOKS, she was strong.

"...Lulu, ya fuzzy butt!" He squirmed in the Anitra's iron-furred grip and wriggled to face her sideways. "Hon, hon, hon~! Okay, okay..." Scaramouche knew when his goose was cooked, so he joined the winning team and wrapped his arms around Lunette's fluffy middle. This, ladies and gentlemen, was the softest living cloud known to all robot-kind.

"Oh... I'm sorry... I thought you wanted to snuggle..."

    Aw...

The Anitra soon found a gentle kiss planted between her beautiful, blue eyes. "Oh, I always wanna snuggle with you..." He wanted to even right now! There was business to settle, however, and the robot's algorithms would never rest if he and Lunette neglected the Diwari downstairs. Scaramouche gave his purring fuzzball another fond squeeze, complete with a soft nuzzle of her forehead, and promptly - scoot, scoot, scoot! - rolled Lunette toward the edge of the bed. "Up and at' em, my hairy log~!" he sang. While she fought the last clutches of sleep away, Scaramouche hopped out of bed like a Spring jackrabbit and was already making it. Anything to keep Lunette from crawling back under the covers. "I'll make ya somethin' light to eat while ya remember what day it is, 'kay?" the android chuckled. Maybe a small hot sandwich and a cup of coffee, like a ham n' cheese croissant! Or maybe something with egg, perhaps? Hm, egg n' cheeeeeese...

He finished fluffing up the pillows and walked around Lunette for the door, sneaking a quick peck on her head as he passed. One does not simply move the Anitra. "See ya downstairs, mi vefo~!" And then the android was gone, briskly making his way back to a waiting Virana near the hearth.

    Thump... thump... thump...

"Sorry, sorry~!" Scaramouche flashed their guest a friendly grin and wave. "I had to roll her outta bed like a boulder, but she'll be down soon! In the meantime, relaaaax~! Kick it back and enjoy a few, baby. I'll be in the kitchen if ya need me!" And then the android was gone again, this time busying himself with a light snack for the girls! If they didn't eat anything, there was always the garbage disposal known as Boon to shovel food down his pie-hole. A win-win!

    "...Lulu, ya fuzzy butt!"

    Mow!
Ahh~ One of her favorite things to do was cuddling with Scaramouche. The sounds he made, his warm plating, his perfect snuggling... it made her want to go right back to sleep and dream some more, but alas... it was time to get up. Apparently, someone was waiting for her? Wonder who it could be! Once she was up and out of bed, he wasted no time in fixing it back up... mostly to keep her from getting back into it, most likely.

"I'll make ya somethin' light to eat while ya remember what day it is, 'kay?"

Lunette would normally say that he 'didn't have to do that', but she knew better than to say otherwise by now. Scaramouche was always ready and willing to make things... probably taking after her! Cooking things and serving people in the sanctuary was something she used to do a lot, but her darling partner seemed more inclined to do so nowadays. So long as he wasn't wearing himself out and was happy, she'd not interfere, though it was nice to help out when she could!

Putting her hair into a messy ponytail and slipping on some yoga pants and a simply crop top, Lunette yawned once more and stretched out before heading downstairs, wondering who this guest was. If it was Kev or Knock Out, Scaramouche would've hinted to that! Scratching behind her ear in thought, the Anitra descended the stairs and looked around briefly before seeing a... familiar fishy lady.

"... Virana?" she said quietly, blinking slowly. There was a mixture of joy and sadness that welled up inside as she approached the Diwari, a soft smile on her face. Joy that her friend was safe... that Virana was here and not dead... but also sadness, as she knew the fish woman was not one to take to change, and was surely confused! "A-are you alright? When did you get here? You're not hurt, are you?" Lunette inquired, looking her friend over before pushing forward into an abrupt hug.

She smelled like... a pool. Hm.
"I'm so glad to see you...! That you're okay... I thought I'd never see you again..." Now, everyone she loved and cared for was here with her! She didn't have to wonder or worry about anyone else back home... It was such a strange, surreal feeling. Once the hug was over, though, Lunette sighed and asked, "are you hungry? Do you have a place to stay? Is there anything at all I can do for you?"

This place definitely wasn't like the dank and dirty tavern Lunette owned back home. It was a very nice change. Virana took in every little detail, sound and scent she could while waiting patiently, ear-fins gently wiggling with each noise. It was nice and warmer in here, as well... it seemed this place was going through the autumn months. Not the best time for her, nor the oncoming winter season, but she'd manage, surely... Such thoughts weren't really focused on anyway as her eyes drifted to the stairs, where Scaramouche emerged and spoke up.

"Sorry, sorry~! I had to roll her outta bed like a boulder, but she'll be down soon! In the meantime, relaaaax~! Kick it back and enjoy a few, baby. I'll be in the kitchen if ya need me!"

Face never changing, Virana nodded softly, "it's alright, no rush..." Boy, he was quite a cheery and loud guy. Friendly, too. He reminded her of Lunette herself, in a way, though not as boisterous and a lot less thick... in a few ways. It didn't take long for said fluffy woman to follow the android down the stairs where Virana finally saw Lunette and blinked slowly. She looked... fine! Happy, even. Something about the Anitra was definitely different, in a positive way, though before Virana could even wave or say hello, Lunette was already worrying over her.

"A-are you alright? When did you get here? You're not hurt, are you?"

The hug that followed the questioning wasn't unexpected and Virana didn't flinch at all. Lunette smelled very nice and felt even softer than what Virana could recall, and merely gave the fluffy woman a gentle pat on the back. "I'm unharmed and fine. I was swimming in the ocean around the isles, and saw an... opening of sorts." The portal, no doubt something Lunette knew about. Damn thing. "It's wonderful to see you. I had assumed the worst when your tavern hadn't opened in some time, but you're doing... much better here, it looks like."

"are you hungry? Do you have a place to stay? Is there anything at all I can do for you?"

"No, I'm not very hungry. I do not have a place to stay at the moment, though I will probably wander the ocean near the city limits... for convenience." Virana paused, blinking slowly again. This felt... weird to her. A strange sort of heaviness, perhaps late realization that she could never go back? That she was stuck here? The thought didn't bother her terribly, but perhaps the feeling did. It sank in abruptly and without pause as Virana's body felt as though she was made of stone. "... I could... perhaps use a place to sleep. Temporarily," she meekly hinted, eyelids heavy and her voice sounding far more drained and somewhat melancholic than before.

"Are you hungry? Do you have a place to stay? Is there anything at all I can do for you?"

"... I could... perhaps use a place to sleep. Temporarily."

    That's his cue!

"Ooh~! Sounds like I better spruce up the guest bathroom!" Even if the ladies said they weren't hungry (they probably weren't), that didn't stop Scaramouche from making a light midnight snack. He emerged from the kitchen, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as can be, and carried over a wooden tray saddled with delectable (and healthy!) finger-food and a pitcher of ice-cold water. "I didn't know what ya two would've wanted," he piped up with a rosy smile, setting everything down on the coffee table in front of the gal-pals, "but I figured you'd both appreciate a lil' nutritious bite to eat, so I whipped up somethin' quick!" The bite-sized morsels had everything an organic could ask for: protein, dairy, a smattering of vegetation, and grains! It might've been insensitive assuming that Virana liked seafood (being a sea-creature and all), but what else would a fishy dame enjoy? They didn't really have any seaweed in the pantry...

The android refilled Virana's glass without prompting and laid out a fresh glass of wa-wa for Lunette herself. "So!" Cyan optics studied the Anitra and Diwari for a moment, flitting back and forth between them. "How d'ya like your bathtub, Virana~? Cold, warm, or Cthulhu?" Please don't say the last one, because Scaramouche wasn't a fan of tentacles!

A place to sleep for the night was definitely something they could provide. It was a bit of a relief she only stated a single night, as they weren't terribly close to the sea, and the closest spot of water was the lake and a river. "Of course, staying the night is a wonderful idea. If you need, I can escort you back tomorrow and show you around sometime!..." Definitely a useless suggestion, as Virana would reject the offer, no doubt. "Oh, but you must be very tired... it's a rather shocking situation you're in... I'm terribly sorry for that, but it can't be helped." Lunette sighed lightly before perking up at Scaramouche's voice, noticing the snacks he had brought. "Oh! Y-you didn't have to do that, darling...!"

Ahh! Salmon! Whiskers bristled forward as her nose wiggled, the tantalizing scent of fresh salmon filling her nostrils. "That's very thoughtful of you, thank you so much..." she cooed with a purr, unable to resist taking a piece of the finger-food and nibbling on it with slight ferocity. It took great willpower to resist letting out a loud Mmm~!, but it was more than obvious the treat was being enjoyed.

Licking her lips and restraining from grabbing more and stuffing them in her gob, Lunette sat straight and proper as she turned her attention back to Virana. "A bathtub with water will be fine enough, right?... Nothing else? You should eat something, just a little something, before heading to bed! It'd be a waste not to try these. Scaramouche is quite an amazing chef!" she encouraged, hoping her friend would partake before undoubtedly retreating to her temporary 'bed'.

There was a slight fidgeting going on with the Diwari's head-fins and tail as Lunette asked about guiding her around. It wasn't that Virana wouldn't have enjoyed that, she simply wasn't... interested. In the city. It was concrete. It was glass. It was several thousand people of various races, no doubt, cramped into a place with tall buildings and several places to waste money. It wasn't her thing. With a gentle but stern, "no thank you", she hoped the subject would be dropped. She needn't waste anyone else's time helping her get accustomed to this odd place. She felt a little guilty already having Scaramouche escort her here, as kind as he was. Not only that, but...

    "O-oh."
Even going so far as to bring them both simple yet decadent snacks felt strange to her. Although, it was difficult not to smirk a little at Lunette's obvious enjoyment of the snacks... and it had been a little while since she herself had eaten. It would've also been quite rude to refuse something brought to her, and so she went for a piece of the foodstuffs. A single bite and the fishy treat was devoured, chewing quietly as her head-fins gave away her delight of the tastes and textures. Washing it down with a wonderfully refreshing glass of water helped ease her into relaxing more than before.

"Thank you very much, sir. You've helped me greatly within the past few hours. I'm quite happy you both look as though you're doing well, and thank you for your hospitality."

As for the bathtub, it was fine enough. Some place safe that had water kept her from drying out, after all. Though, she wasn't quite sure what a Cthulhu option meant. Surely, it was some form of joke? One she didn't get at all, but nevertheless... "You needn't trouble yourself with that, Scaramouche. You've done enough for me, and I thank you." Lunette nodded in agreement, thoroughly enjoying the salmon snacks as she had already eaten three more.

"You both seem to have a nice and quiet place here. It is nicer, I think, than the tavern back home..." she paused at the word 'home', wondering for a moment. "And do not worry; there's no need to show me around. I prefer wandering and seeing things myself, but I am more interested in what the waters here have to offer... the land can come later."

That's right. You wily she-beasts better eat these snacks, because Scaramouche won't see either of you retiring to bed on empty stomachs! "I didn't have to, but I wanted to~!" he answered Lunette with the usual obnoxious sing-song. Now, at least with Lu, the android could rest easy knowing she'd stuff her fluffy gob and purr up a happy storm, fish-breath and all. The Anitra was fortunately predictable, but in a good way! Virana, on the other hand?

"Thank you very much, sir. You've helped me greatly within the past few hours. I'm quite happy you both look as though you're doing well, and thank you for your hospitality."

Eh, the jury wasn't quite back from their gridlock.

"Hon~! Oh no, please," the robot chuckled, holding up a hand. "A friend of Lu's is a friend of mine, so 'Scaramouche' is just fine! No need for formality, hm~? And you're very welcome - both of ya. I've taken Lulu's charm and skills in the kitchen to heart~!" As for the bathtub matter... It took all of the android's willpower not to insist and override Virana's wishes, but Scaramouche somehow managed. He surprisingly yielded, "Well, if ya say so~! But don't hesitate to ring either of us up, huh? Whenever you're ready to head upstairs, take an immediate left and head three doors down; the guest bathroom is right across a storage closet. Can't miss it! There's a light fixture even older than me hanging above it." And it was an antique-looking thing, too! Very... hm, Victorian? Old World...? Always hard telling the overall aesthetic of this place.

But the Diwari was right on the money - after recent additions and some revising, the tavern was a lot nicer than its past incarnation. For one, the establishment was brighter (and that did amaaaazing things to everyone's attitude). And two, it had a bit more Feng Shui as far as decorations and furniture were concerned! Gotta have that environmental harmony, right? Last but not least, it no longer felt so damn oppressive.

The herbs from Aicara's garden had done wonders for that.

Scaramouche frowned and appeared somewhat concerned with something or other. He'll surely explain why in a second. "Hm, well... I don't think any of the nearby rivers and creeks are mucked up with spooks or lurkin' monsters? But, uh, ya do gotta avoid... the lake." Ooh, sounded quite ominous, didn't it? There was a good reason for that. A very good reason. "Hon hon hon~! I dunno if I told ya this, Gills, but the local lake is cursed~!!" The robot fancied another nasally laugh. If Virana had liked geese before, she was going to quickly hate them in record time. "There's, like, a mondo huge demon there, so..." Scaramouche shrugged with a grin as large as sin. "Don't go~! Seriously, don't... The last two shit-for-brains who went pokin' their noses into that lion's den came back vomitin' blood and wantin' to ice people left and right. It was a bad, baaaad time~!" Talk about a headache. It didn't help that only one of the ignorant duo remained to this very day; the other just seemingly... vanished. Scaramouche thought that added quite nicely to the ill-fated mystery of Lake Cordelia!

"Anyway, that's pretty much it," he concluded, tossing in another light shrug. "Just avoid Lake Cordelia and you're Gucci~!" 'Cause that Devil most def didn't wear Prada. It probably wore the skins of its enemies and made a crown out of their pelvises... Groady!

For now, Lunette's attention was split three-ways; Scaramouche, Virana and the delicious foodstuffs in front of her. Nibbling quietly on the snacks, Lunette glanced between the two almost constantly. Every time Scaramouche turned her way, a deep and rumbling purr emitted from her as her tail swayed happily. Directions to the guest bathroom was given, hopefully Virana would remember, but the Anitra chirped at the mention of the light fixture, "it may look old, but it gives it a homey and lived-in feeling~!" That's the aesthetic she wanted. Something that people would look at and feel right at home.

Nothing wrong with the rivers and ponds... but Lunette paused mid-nibble and glanced to the android, who began warning her friend of the daemon at Cordelia Lake. Gills... Shit-for-brains... his entire description made the feline snicker deviously with glee, though she kept it as quiet as possible. Swallowing her last snack (for now), Lunette nodded in agreement, "you should be alright otherwise! And if you need help, you're free to ask us or Collins and Boon, too! They work for us, and they're very nice..." she paused once more before adding, "ahh, Boon is I mean! Collins is a little less nice, but if I tell them to help you, they will! So no worries!" They'd do as they're told lest they make their mistress upset.

Licking her lips and sipping her water, the feline was quite content and left plenty for Virana to snack on as well. The poor girl probably hadn't eaten in days... that's how it went, as far as Lunette could remember. She couldn't fathom skipping a meal for more than a day! "You eat up the rest and drink to your heart's content!" Moving from her seat and pushing in her chair, Lunette found her way to Scaramouche's side where her hand was placed on the small of his back, her body very lightly leaning against his. "Is there anything else you need? Please don't worry or think you're a bother, I'm just very happy to see you safe and sound! I want to make you as comfortable here as possible, given the circumstances..." Her smile continued despite the bleak sound of her sentence, purr still rumbling loudly with enthusiasm.

Glancing down for but a moment, Virana nodded. "Right then... Scaramouche." It would be difficult at first, but formality was always hard to break. She'd have to get used to it. "She has taught you well, then," she complimented, eyeing Lunette for a moment as she focused back on the tall android. It was quite interesting how they both seemed... alike. Virana wouldn't pretend to understand the ways of the heart and love, however, and nodded in thanks for the directions. "I will retire soon, and be quiet. Any mess I make I will be certain to clean swiftly." Not that she planned to do so, but water was pretty unpredictable!

A few salmon-snacks remained and, with a careful touch, she picked one up and began calmly eating. Each bite she took, the food was placed down as she chewed what she had. All the while, she kept eye-contact with whomever spoke, ear-fins wiggling lightly with each sentence as if processing what she had heard. The most interesting came from a warning; the daemon of Cordelia. At this, her fins twitched, eyes staring widely at Scaramouche's description, as if bewildered or had never heard of such a thing.

It was surprising because she figured daemons would not be an issue. Thus, she was wrong.

"I see..." she said calmly, taking in his words with caution. "I will avoid Cordelia Lake, then... It is a shame daemons are still running amok, even here..." This was by no means a slam at her friend, but they both knew how the creatures were and lived. Sneaky, untrustworthy, liars... weaving words of interest together in order to seduce those with lower wit to follow them or be their servants. Virana's brow furrowed as her lip pouted, hinting that she was thinking deeply on the subject as she took another bite of food. "I do hope the daemon has not caused issues for either of you. To tread on such grounds would be foolish, you needn't worry for me. I've no interest."

Finishing another snack and taking a long drink of the water that felt as though it replenished her very health, Virana let out a content, small sigh. "Thank you for the warning and hospitality once more. I am well for now, and will retire to the bath upstairs soon," she stated calmly and giving a small, reassuring smile to her gracious hosts.

Gad-zooks, could Lunette pack it away like a champ! Not really surprising, if he considered the Anitra's love for - ahem. Scaramouche coughed into a hand and discreetly fanned himself, putting on a slightly crooked grin. No, don't look at him right now, Lunette! Don't look at him with those big, beautiful, blue eyes! Purr at your fishy friend! PURR AT STARKIST, DAMN IT.

    ...Whiiiiiiirr!

Ah, what's the use... The furball was just so adorable (and sexy) with her mouth full!

"H-Homey and lived-in's a g-great aesthetic~!" the android squeaked, doing his best impression of a small space heater. "10/10, w-would recommend!" And hey, it felt nice being with fellow antiques. What wasn't to love?

"Right then... Scaramouche. She has taught you well, then. I will retire soon, and be quiet. Any mess I make I will be certain to clean swiftly."

Oof! Talk about night and day. Scaramouche's cooling systems thankfully kicked into the gear and the poor robot no longer looked as if he was ready for takeoff. "O-Oh, uh...!" He cleared his throat again. "You needn't, like, worry too much about that! ...Babe." Had to throw that in there, for the memories. "I'll get a bunch of our softest towels ready for ya, lickety-split! And, uh..." He scratched his cheek. "You, er, don't gotta worry about bein' mum, either. Like mi v - Lulu said, you'll be all right! Enjoy yourself, relax, and give us a holler if ya need us. Boon's a sweetheart and loves the ladies, so he'll bend over backwards for ya~!" And as for Collins... The android snorted. Loudly. "A lil' less nice, she says..." Scaramouche merely shook his head and rested both hands upon his hips. "Like, biggest understatement of the freakin' century, Lu," he chuckled. The gargoyle was a grade-AAA asshole - one of the best! Collins would be a fool to earn the Anitra's ire, however, and that's what the robot counted on. "He'll treat ya right too~!" Scaramouche grinned. "He's not as animated as the rest of us, but he'll help if ya ask. Just don't, like, expect anythin' cheery, huh?" Which, admittedly, might be more up Virana's... river?

But yes, the demon of Lake Cordelia. A rather unpleasant concept, wasn't it? And so close to home, too! Scaramouche lightheartedly shrugged, "Eh~! It seems demons are a thing no matter where ya go. It hasn't bothered us, personally... but we also haven't bothered it. From what I hear, it's more reactionary." But it was reassuring to hear Virana's promise. If anything happened to the Diwari, Lunette would be downright inconsolable and Scaramouche didn't want to see her loving heart break into itty-bitty fuzzy pieces. The less prodding that demonic hornet's nest, the better!

"Is there anything else you need? Please don't worry or think you're a bother, I'm just very happy to see you safe and sound! I want to make you as comfortable here as possible, given the circumstances..."

"Yeah!" the android happily chimed in. Upon feeling the Anitra's heavenly touch, he rested a fond metal hand on Lunette's shoulder and held her close. Ah, mi vefo, you're so warm and cute, you near-indestructible lil' furry tank~! You also smelled heavily of salmon... "You're absolutely welcome, Virana, and we're more than happy to help ya!" Scaramouche added. "I reckon you and Lunette might wanna touch bases, though, so I'm gonna head upstairs and get the guest bathroom ready for ya. I won't touch the water, promise! Just gonna make the place nice and homey." As well as clean! Can't have anyone stay there if it wasn't up to snuff. "Now, if you'll excuse me~!" He squeezed the Anitra's shoulder and planted a gentle kiss atop Lunette's silky head. Mwah~! "I'll get out of your whiskers and fins so you girls can chat~! Lulu, please don't stay up too late, 'kay? We got work in the mornin'!" Though, if need be, Scaramouche can cover Lunette's shift so she could squeeze in a few more winks. He then looked at the Diwari, "And it was a pleasure escortin' ya, Virana~! I hope you'll like it here." Because, for better or worse, this place was home. At least it had friends and good company!

With a friendly wave of his slender fish-stick fingers, the android made for the stairs and once again disappeared from sight, eager to give Lunette's friend a proper warm welcome. Now, the real question is... does he put mint candies on the bathtub or the sink?

((OOC Note: this is probably my last post unless otherwise needed, but it was fun! Lemme know if Scaramouche needs to honk their ears off.))
